WACO, Texas — Baylor overcame a 19-point second-half deficit Texas to earn their 19th victory of the 2018-2019 basketball season and stay within striking range of the Big 12 lead with just three games remaining in the regular season. The Bears finished off Texas in overtime, 84-83.
Sophomore Mario Kegler led the way for Baylor with 24 points including hitting two free throws in overtime to give the Bears the lead with less than four seconds remaining. Kegler also added 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks to his line.
Junior Devonte Bandoo continued his hotstreak from the court as he connected on 4-of-5 three-point shots on his way to 18 points. Bandoo scored 16 of his points in the final 12:32 of regulation.
Freshman Jared Butler chipped in 15 points of his own and collected 5 rebounds and 4 assists. In his previus five games the point guard is averaging 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists while knocking down 3.2 three-point shots per game.
Junior Freddie Gillispie narrowly missed his second double-double in the last three outings scoring 8 points and collecting 11 rebounds. Gillisipie blocked 4 shots, grabbed 2 steals and dished out an assist.
