Sweet 16: Lady Bears vs. South Carolina Preview and Game Thread

The Baylor Lady Bears square off in the Sweet 16 against South Carolina. This will be the second time to tangle as the Lady Bears defeated South Carolina in Columbia by 25 points. Both teams have improved since December and this should be a great game to watch with two extremely competitive former players heading both programs.

Protect the ball

Stop transition offense

Pound the paint, but take the mid-range jumper if USC goes to zone

Stay out of foul trouble

Keep USC guards in front of defense

Oh my. I haven't been able to watch the game but just checked the ESPN app and my jaw literally dropped. Something in my gut was telling me it was close- didn't realize that meant close to being over.

I wouldn't underestimate Gustafson. She's quicker than Kalani and will get her points, the key will be shutting down Stewart and the outside shots.

The only way we lose now is if we lose focus. Keep the end in sight...need 00:00 on scoreboard before we let up.

Also, a little disappointed in our two bigs subs. We may need them to play meaningful minutes in next game, should we advance. Might need the fouls. Need to not have our offensive game underneath stall out. Maybe just nerves and they got it all out. Hope they see the floor again in this game.
