Baylor's 2016 Class: Those That Remain, Denzel Mims
Do you stay or do you go? That was the question faced by the 2016 Class for Baylor football. As we show in our first article, the grass may not have been greener elsewhere. With that said, how have the players which remained true to Baylor peformed over the transition of staffs.
Denzel Mims had other options, but the Daingerfield athlete remained true to his word and enrolled in June. Mims was used sparingly and wasted what should have been a redshirt year in 2016. In 2017, Mims blossomed into a reliable threat on the field and used his 6-3 frame and sprinter speed to lead Baylor in receiving as the main target. In 2018, Mims remained a top target, but Jalen Hurd became the favorite target for Charlie Brewer. Mims flirted with entering the NFL Draft early, but felt another year at Baylor would elevate his opportunities at the next level.
