Many things can be said to describe Lady Bear head coach Kim Mulkey and all of them should contain winner. Opposing fans will begrudgingly admit it when confronted, Lady Bear fans thrive on it, and her players learn how to follow in her footsteps. The family atmosphere of the program features likely the biggest potluck dinner in the state.

As for the winning, Mulkey has done it as a player in high school, college, and the Olympics.

She’s done it in college as an assistant and head coach.

Her jewelry box has more rings than a carnival toss game. With three National Championships at Baylor, what are the next milestones for “The Mulk?”

First in line is 600 wins for her career as a head coach. She currently sits at 576 wins and 99 losses. The debate could be which happens first and personally, I see 600 happening before 100.

To put it in perspective of how incredible her record is compared to history for a program she built into a powerhouse, there is only one coach in women’s basketball with a better winning percentage, Geno Auriemma at Connecticut. One coach has won more games per season over their career, Geno Auriema.

Mulkey is currently number 47 in all-time wins and should climb into the mid-30s by seasons end. Maybe this article should be discussing her going for 1000 wins over the next 10 seasons instead of 600 now, but 600 is coming soon for the Lady Bears.

Repeating a National Championship is also on the horizon with talented returning starters, a great bench, and a grad transfer point guard named a preseason First Team All-American the Lady Bears are poised to strike fear into all teams facing them.

The 2019-20 version of the Lady Bears will have more firepower than any in program history with at least seven players capable of burying a three or dominating the opposition in the paint. The first exhibition game tips of Friday and this should be a special season.

Kim Mulkey has brought more positive, championship attention to Baylor than anyone else - period. She is as good as a coach can possibly be ... and yet she is never ever satisfied. May her fervor, talent, and sterling coaching continue for Baylor for many, many years. 1000 here she comes.

Kim Mulkey is the reason I became a Baylor Lady Bears fan. To accomplish what she did in turning the Lady Bears into a perennial national power is nothing less than sensational! She made watching and following Baylor women's basketball fun for myself and my family.

Minor nit: I believe Barmore still has a higher winning percentage than Kim.

Actually, looking at it, I notice that Kim is exactly tied with Leon for wins. She'll pass him in the first game this year. But he only had 87 losses
