MBB: Baylor 53, Butler 52 Post Game Reaction and Podcast
#11 Baylor (8-1) beat another top 20 team by defeating #18 Butler (9-1) 53-52 in a defensive minded affair in Waco, TX. The Bears have a week off before facing Tennessee Martin on 12/18 in Houston.
Positives
- Defense and effort was outstanding. The Bears held Butler to a season low 0.85 points per possession.
- Great effort on the glass and protecting the rim by Freddie Gillespie and Mark Vital. Between them, they grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked 6 shots.
- Scott Drew now has 45 wins against top 25 opponents in his tenure.
Needs Work
- Offensive flow and shooting. I trust this staff to figure all that out.
- Delivering the knock out punch. This is the third game this year that Baylor led by a significant margin late in the game and the outcome was either a loss (Washington) or a collapsing lead (Arizona and Butler). Bears need to figure out how to get distance on the scoreboard.
- Ball movement which goes back to #1. The ball is “sticking” too much.
