#1 Baylor (18-1; 7-0) blasts Iowa State (9-11; 2-5) in Ames 67-53. The Bears bring their winning streak to 16 and just finished a stretch where they won 5 road games in the last 7 games.
Observations
- Baylor 7-1 in Quad 1 games. Only Kansas (8-3), Butler (6-4) and Seton Hall (7-4) have over 6 Quad 1 wins right now.
- Baylor just won a game where they shot 4-20 from 3 and were -6 from the foul line on the road and they won by 14. This team can beat you in a lot of different ways.
- Freddie Gillespie is top 100 in the nation in the following categories: offensive efficiency (7); effective FG percentage (96); offensive rebounding percentage (10); block percentage (38) and oh he happens to be one of the best defenders in the country. #AllAmerican
- Hard to put into words how valuable Mark Vital is. He’s the type of player you win a championship with. Committed to Baylor in 2013 as a frosh in high school and never wavered. Now as a redshirt junior, he has a chance to lead Baylor to a Big12 title and national championship.
- Macio Teague went his second straight game without turning the ball over. He is playing efficient basketball.
- Davion Mitchell continues his case for Big12 defensive player of the year (4 steals). Baylor has 3 guys that can win it: Mitchell, Vital, Gillespie.
- Baylor just went through the most difficult part of its schedule: 5 road games in the last 7 games and they won all 5 road games by at least 5 points.
- You can’t go 39-1 until you go 19-1, beat TCU!
- Good to see Tristan Clark make contributions. I was told Flo Thamba is fine even though he didn’t make the trip.
- Mayer and Butler had off nights, just shows how good the defense and offensive rebounding is. Like clockwork, we can count on those two things. Special season...
