#1 Baylor (23-1; 12-0) dismantles #14 West Virginia (18-7; 6-6) in Waco, Texas without Macio Teague (sprained wrist). The Bears were led by Jared Butler with 21 points. Matthew Mayer and Davion Mitchell each chipped in 13 points. Next up for the Bears is a trip to OU Tuesday.
Five Observations
-- Elite defense when it mattered. With 10 minutes to go in the game, Baylor led West Virginia 53-25.
– Great performances from Davion Mitchell and Jared Butler on both ends of the floor. 34 points; 8 rebounds and 13 assists between them.
– Matthew Mayer was terrific off the bench- 13 points; 8 rebounds and only one turnover.
– Freddie Gillespie and Tristan Clark played terrific interior defense holding Oscar Tshiebwe and Derek Culver to 14 points on 15 field goal attempts and turning them over 9 times.
– Great team win, Vital and Bandoo also made big contributions. Thamba gave some good minutes off the bench as well.
