10 Quick Thoughts
- Great insight from Stargell Bello on the post-game podcast
- Hopefully our offense will flow much better in the NCAA tournament when we no longer play great Big12 defenses, but our inability to make open 3 pointers for two Saturdays in a row is concerning. 8-35 and about 5 of those 8 were in garbage/helter skelter time.
- For the first time ever, you will hear me say these words: “I’m glad Kansas won today.” If they had lost in Lubbock, that would have been a tough pill to swallow.
- OSU is currently up 27-7 on Texas in Austin. If the Cowboys hold on, we will play the winner of KSU vs OU/TCU. The loser of that game will be the 7 seed.
- Vital played like a warrior today. Much props to him.
- I’m concerned about Matt Mayer’s hip injury. That did not look good. Might have re-injured the same hip he had surgery on.
- It doesn’t appear that we will be able to count on Tristan Clark the rest of the way. Scott Drew and staff have done an amazing job this year considering Clark hasn’t give us much and Mario Kegler left before the season started. And then having to deal with recent injuries- Vital (knee); Teague (wrist); Mayer (hip); Bandoo (thigh/knee); Clark (knee).
- Thought we didn’t play desperate enough in the second half. Hopefully the fire returns. That was the second road game in a row where we played a bit weak-minded. It is really tough to win on the road. Fortunately, we don’t have any more “road” games.
- We need to win the Big12 tourney to get our swag back. It feels like we are limping into post-season literally and figuratively like 2017. In 2017, we started 20-1 and got bounced in the Sweet 16 after losing 7 of our last 14. This year we started 24-1 and have gone 2-3 in our last 5.
- You can’t win 9 in a row until you win 1 in a row! Beat Purple or Crimson!
