Bracketology Updates: Bears still firm as 1-seed, potential matchups differ

A third loss in five games still hasn’t changed much for Baylor and that’s a major testament to the resume the Bears compiled throughout the entire regular season. The Bears finished the regular season with 11 quad one wins, second most to 12 by Kansas and ahead of Villanova (10), Seton Hall (10) and Butler (10). Baylor finished with a 3-1 record against those four teams including wins over Villanova, Butler and a regular-season split with Kansas.

The Bears will open the Big 12 tournament with a Thursday contest against the winner of 7-seed TCU and 10-seed Kansas State and a victory in Kansas City would allow Scott Drew’s team another opportunity for an additional quad one victory.

How would a loss in the quarter finals impact the NCAA seeding? At this point, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi and several other bracket experts, the Bears would still remain on the 1-seed line.

Below is a look at six of the latest bracket predictions from around the internet.

They have to win the big 12 tournament to lock that 1 seed. The NCAA committee goes by a different criteria now and that is called NET. Which means it doesn't only take into account Q1 wins

i'm all for reading the current bracketologists and articles from non-ncaa sources for a "feel good" feeling, but the only way for that to happen is if they win their conf. tournament.

the top FOUR teams in the FINAL NET ranking will get the #1 seed. So far SDSU is above Baylor.

You realize that recent precedent completely contradicts this post, right? Just last year, Net No. 7 North Carolina got a 1 seed over No. 4 Houston, and Houston had a far better resume than San Diego State does now.

The committee values strength of schedule and quality wins. A power conference team with Baylor's resume will almost always get a No. 1 seed.
