BREAKING: Baylor adds '21 DeSoto DT Byron Murphy over Georgia, TCU
Baylor picked up their 16th commitment of the 2021 recruiting class on Friday when DeSoto High School defensive tackle Byron Murphy II (6-1, 298) gave his verbal commitment to Dave Aranda’s coaching staff.

Murphy, who held offers from Colorado, Georgia, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa State, TCU, Utah and others, posted 82 tackles, 12.0 tackles for loss 4.0 sacks as a junior in 2019. He helped lead DeSoto to 9-3 record on the season and a win in the first round of the playoffs.
At The Opening regional in March of 2019 as a sophomore, Murphy posted a 5.01 second 40-yard dash, a 4.66 second 40-yard shuttl and a 31.30-inch vertical.
Murphy joins Sam Carrell (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia), Cooper Lanz (Denton, TX/Guyer) and Dakote Doyle-Robinson (St. Louis, MO/DeSmet Jesuit) as Baylor’s third defensive line pledge of the cycle.
