0-for-3: Baylor's third consecutive second-half rally fails as Baylor loses to TCU, 33-23

WACO, Texas — Same song, third verse. A second-half rally fell short for Baylor (1-3) for the third time this season and the third game in a row as Dave Aranda’s team dropped a home contest to TCU (2-3) on Saturday, 33-23.

After digging themselves into a devastating 30-0 hole, Baylor finally showed life at the end of the first half that carried through the rest of the contest to make what looked like was an definite blowout into a game that was somewhat what appealing.

With 1:18 remaining in the first half, Baylor recovered a fumble at TCU’s 35-yard line and capitalized on the unforced error when senior quarterback Charlie Brewer hit Ben Sims in the back of the end zone for a one-yard score to get their first points of the game.

Outside of that, however, the Bears had no production from the offense in the first half making the second half rally nothing more than talking points. Making matters worse in the first half was an uninspired effort by the defense, a surprising result considering the performances in the first three games of the season.

Offensively, BU ran 33 first half plays for 80 total yards with 39 yards coming on a pass from Brewer to RJ Sneed to set up Sims’ score before the end of the half. Defensively Baylor allowed 23 points and 192 yards and gave up another score on a 67-yard punt return for a score.

Baylor outscored the Horned Frogs 16-3 in the second half led by Sims and running back Craig Williams.

Sims finished the day with four receptions for 40 yards and two touchdowns while WIlliams led the Bears in rushing with 10 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown run of 32 yards with 10:25 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Baylor will return to action next week to face Iowa State on the road.

What the heck was going on in the first half?
God Bless Texas

A Baylor rally just means Baylor finally scored before the game ended. Until they bench Charlie, no more wins.

It would be nice if we would have a team show up when we play someone.
