On Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after Baylor’s final game of the 2020 football season, Baylor senior quarterback Charlie Brewer announced on Twitter that he would be entering his name into the transfer portal with intentions of playing his final season of college football elsewhere.

“It is with much thought and prayer that I am announcing I will be entering the transfer portal and moving on as a graduate transfer. A heartfelt thank you to my teammates, Coach Rhule and Coach Aranda for an amazing ride the past four years here at Baylor. I will take with me a lifetime of great memories and a degree from Baylor University,” Brewer wrote.

Brewer finished his Baylor career ranking No. 2 in a large number of statistical passing categories behind only 2011 Heisman  Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.

Over four years at Baylor, the Lake Travis High School product completed 63.5% of his passes for 9,700 yards with 65 touchdowns against 28 interceptions. Brewer also added 1,039 yards rushing with 22 scores.

Brewer started every game of Baylor’s 2019 season where the Bears reached the Big 12 Championship where they fell to Oklahoma. Baylor finished the season with an 11-3 record and accepted an invitation to play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.

Best for him and BU. Many of us have concerns about his long-term health, but the kid is tough as hell and a very good QB given the right circumstances. Best of luck to you, Charlie.

Can you blame him? He's running for his life on every snap with the sieve that is our O line. Probably wants a functioning brain for life after football. This season wasn't really a season and I'm sure he wants a real senior year somewhere where they protect the passer.

True, probably didn't like the ignorant negativity either. He did a lot here and one of the best to wear the green and gold. Sic 'Em CB, this Bear fan is extremely grateful for what you did here.

And I hope he gets that. Charlie proved for three years here that he's a good college quarterback and a winner. It's a shame that one bad year in a pop gun offense was enough to turn so many fans against him.

CB, what a good football player and person. When Baylor was down, he helped us get to winning again. I know everyone wanted to put a new qb in, but man, what he has done for Baylor over the past four years is nothing short of amazing. I wish him all the best, and I know he will do amazing wherever he lands. Godspeed! You will always have a Fan here.

I wish Charlie nothing but the best. He stuck around through a lot of difficult times. He surely had rough year but he never had an O line, any consistent receiving crew or any semblance of a running game or an offensive strategy. I wish him well wherever he ends up. Unless it's UT.

Whatever, best of luck to him.

The thing that irks me is that we've now completed this craptastic season having run off our number 1 and number 2 QBs and given our number 3 all of, what, 12 minutes of playing time??

So frustrated at our coaches. They should have done better.

Just from what I've seen and from what I've read between the tea leaves, fedora and Munoz are looking for a pocket passer. I'm not sure we have a true pocket passer on campus right now. I would not be surprised to see us look for a quarterback in the transfer market to compete with Zeno for the starting job

Hound---if I were a QB that was looking for a pocket passer system I would not give Baylor a single look until we have something known as an OFFENSIVE LINE....so good luck if that is what our offensive coaches are looking for!

Kid always showed a ton of guts and moxie, often in some very tough situations.

Thanks to him, and best of luck to him going forward.

No, it's not.

I'm A Baylor Bears fan, not a Charlie Brewer fan. I appreciate what he did, but he's chosen to leave the program, and frankly, don't blame him, but I don't make it a habit to cheer players who leave the program. Good luck to the man. I hope he gets some things sorted out with his new situation.

But that's not the point of my post. With that reality of his leaving at hand, I'm pissed that we go into next season without a seasoned QB. Our coaching staff had two options in this regard: provide an environment for our QBs so that they don't feel the need to leave, or provide experience for those QBs who decide to stay. It seems like we did neither of these things.

I dont want to live forever.
But I will live while I'm here.

Let Charlie down? He set a Baylor record for games played. Could he have been a 4 yr starter for any other P5 school? Baylor treated him like a Prince.

Charlie was treated well here by both coaching staffs. Aranda actually treated him better than rhule. Do y'all remember when rhule brought in McClendon and actually started him over Brewer for a couple games? Make no mistake, Rhule was looking to replace brewer but didn't find a better quarterback on the roster. Aranda gave him the benefit of the doubt from day one

Thank you, Charlie - you left it all on the field for us. Wish you would consider hanging up the cleats rather than transfer because of your concussion history, but I wish you well and success in life.

You laid your body on the field for Baylor in every game, and we will be forever grateful.
