Nice to see Turner draining the 3's.

Don't get me wrong - I love watching Mitchell play on both ends of the floor, but what is he doing still on the floor at this point in this kind of a blowout?
You want the young guys to get minutes, but you want them to be productive minutes. It's good to have a leader like Mitchell in there to provide structure. My 2 cents anyways.

A basket by Loveday puts the Baylor Bears at the 100-point mark this afternoon.

Davion Mitchell finishes with his 2nd career double-double at Baylor. He had 10 points and 10 assists.

It will be great if Mullet finally gets a bucket.

Final from the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas: #2 ranked Baylor Bears 105, Alcorn State Braves 76. The Baylor Bears will take an 8-0 record into the 2021 portion of the college basketball season.

Turner gets the Willie Sublett Award for fouling out in < 10 minutes.

Good point, but I'm just concerned about the potential for a fluke injury to a key player in what was obviously garbage time of a blowout win.

Tristan Clark fouled out more quickly last year against Texas (or the year before?) and with no points. It happens. At least he gave us some good minutes with those great 3's.

Baylor finished with 55.7% shooting. They were 42.9% from 3-Point Range. Finally, Baylor was 80.6% from the Free Throw Line. Big XII Conference play for the bulk of 2021 college basketball play before the postseason.

If they can maintain numbers like that for the rest of the season, it will be something. Realistically, we cannot expect that to happen, though.

We will most certainly see a regression toward the mean as the level of competition gets better. There have been so many uncontested 3s in the last several games. It's unreasonable to expect that trend to continue. LJ's 0-5 from beyond the arc today is evidence of that presupposition. Rough game for him today.

All our guys will hit rough spots as the season progresses. We're just blessed that we have 6 very talented scorers and half of them are also playing defense at a very good to elite level. Two are average to very good, and Cryer's deficiencies on defense are usually more than made up for on the offensive end.

I don't think I've ever seen a college team with more legit elite 3 point shooters than this team. We could literally have 3 of them have an off game at the same time and still potentially destroy the opponent with 3 point shooting.

That was a disappointing defensive effort today. They outscored us in the 2nd half, that were the most points they have scored this season and they have played some bad teams.

I remember seeing a video clip earlier this month with Jared Butler saying their goal was to keep opponents to below 60 points. They have done a pretty good job of that this season so far (admittedly against mostly creampuffs) but definitely not today. Yesterday the defensive improvement in the 2nd half was obvious. Today it seems like Drew wanted to give the bench more playing time and was willing to accept the defensive drop off. I guess it was worth the tradeoff--especially seeing Turner shoot the 3's and Cryer & Loveday make some good plays. This may be important in February or March.

While I enjoyed watching the past 3 blowouts, it is equally important to gauge just exactly what we've played: the 3 teams have a combined record of 2-19 this year.

So, we took care of business against teams we should have taken care of business. Not sure it gave us much insight into the upcoming Big 12 schedule but in these COVID times it was good we could get some games in before conference play.

He was a a top 150 recruit with some pretty good offers. He has a really nice stroke so I am assuming he will be a stretch 4. I am not sure he has the frame to gain a ton more weight to bang some low, but likely won't need him for that any way.

Stretch 4 will be just fine. He has the mobility and a nice stroke for it. If he can't put on weight, he's just gonna need to gain strength. You could see him getting pushed around easily in all the games he's played, which isn't all that unusual for a young, big who is learning to play at a collegiate level where he's not 8 inches taller than everyone else playing.

It gave the players a chance to play a real game without a great risk. It gave them a chance to dust off the cobwebs after the holidays. It gave the bench plenty of time. It gave the coaches a chance to try new things & to evaluate the team. The cream puffs provides a lot of benefits & that's why every team plays them.

Games like the last few are the equivalent of glorified scrimmages, but they are important as opportunities to evaluate different lineup combinations under game conditions and to give some decent minutes to the deep bench. Would've been nice to have also had more true non-con tests for this team, but the "covid gods" have had other ideas.
