#2 Baylor (8-0) coasted to a 29 point win over Alcorn State (0-5). The Bears had six guys in double figures led by MaCio Teague's 18 points. Next up for the Bears is a road game at Iowa State Saturday at noon CST.
Positives:
- Put Alcorn State away after losing the first media timeout 8-7. The Bears outscored Alcorn State 73-28 to build a 80-36 lead around the 11 minute mark of the second half.
- Offensive efficiency continues to be elite. 1.46 points per possession is great. Ball movement and unselfishness was good until the last 10 minutes.
- Balanced scoring, six players in double figures including 3 off the bench. Good to see Jordan Turner and Zach Loveday both get in double figures for the first time in their Baylor career.
- 18 offensive rebounds (56%) was good to see. Making 81% of their free throws (25-31) was also encouraging.
Needs Improvement
- Defensive rebounding and interior defense. The Bears gave up 14 offensive rebounds (42% of misses) and also allowed Alcorn State to shoot 50% from the field from two point range.
- Fouled too much. Sent Alcorn State to the line to shoot 33 free throws.
- Giving up 49 second half points. Defense got sloppy. Alcorn State outscored the Bears 40-25 the last 11 minutes.
