WACO, Texas – Baylor senior guard MaCio Teague picked up National Player of the Week honors from the NCAA and was selected as Big 12 Conference Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Teague led Baylor to three wins over top-18 ranked opponents during the week, as the Bears claimed their first Big 12 Conference championship and first conference title since 1950.

A Cincinnati, Ohio, native, Teague put together a memorable senior night by tying the school record with 10 made 3-pointers in Sunday’s win over No. 18 Texas Tech. He tied the second-most 3-pointers made in game by any player in the Big 12 Conference’s 25-year history. He went 10-of-12 from 3-point range and posted 35 points on only 16 field goal attempts, the fourth-most points by a Baylor player in the Big 12 game.

Teague had 19 points to lead the Bears past No. 17 Oklahoma State in Thursday’s game, and he had 11 points, including a game-tying bucket with 1:49 left in overtime, in Tuesday’s Big 12 title-clinching OT win at No. 6 West Virginia.

Teague finished the regular season second on the team and sixth in the Big 12 with 15.8 points per game, which increased to 16.1 in Big 12 play. He’s shooting 40% from 3-point range and averaging 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 31.2 minutes per game. Teague ranks fifth in the Big 12 with a .481 field goal percentage and 12th with 2.0 made 3-pointers per game.

The conference weekly honor was the third in Teague’s two years at Baylor, as he was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Jan. 13 and Feb. 10 last season. He was recognized three times as Big South Player of the Week and four times as Big South Freshman of the Week while at UNC Asheville during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

Teague combined with Jared Butler and Davion Mitchell to give the Bears three Big 12 Player of the Week honors for a third-straight season and fifth time in the last six years. This is the fourth time Baylor has had three different players earn Big 12 Player of the Week honors in the same year, following Cory Jefferson, Isaiah Austin and Kenny Chery in 2014, Rico Gathers, Taurean Prince and Johnathan Motley in 2016 and Tristan Clark, King McClure and Makai Mason in 2019.

Teague is one of five finalists for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award, while Butler is among five finalists for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. Fans can vote for both players here.

BU finished the regular season ranked No. 2 nationally with a 21-1 record and a 13-1 mark in conference play. The Bears won more games than any other team in the league despite having four games cancelled, while TCU with two cancellations was the only other program to not play at least 17 league games.

No. 1 seed Baylor returns to action at 1:30 p.m. CT Thursday on ESPN2 in the Big 12 Championship quarterfinals against the winner of the first round game between No. 8 seed TCU and No. 9 seed Kansas State. The winner of that game will face the winner of No. 4 West Virginia vs. No. 5 Oklahoma State at 5:30 p.m. CT Friday.
