Get your Final Four Baylor gear!

#1 Seed Baylor puts together a strong offensive performance to oust #3 Seed Arkansas and advance to the program's first Final 4 since 1950 by beating the Hogs 81-72.  Next up for the Bears is a Texas showdown against Houston Saturday April 3rd in Indianapolis.

Positives

  • Arkansas has their historic trio (the Triplets):  Marvin Delph, Ron Brewer, Sidney Moncrief who led them to a Final 4 in 1978.  Baylor has its own triplets and really quadruplets in Davion Mitchell, Jared Butler, MaCio Teague and Adam Flagler.  Those 4 scored 58 of Baylor’s 81 points to help catapult the Bears to the Final 4.
  • Offense was strong, 1.19 points per possession against a top 10 team in defensive efficiency.
  • Great contributions from Jonathan off the bench tonight with 8 points and 6 rebounds and a crucial block.
  • Took care of the basketball against a team that gets a lot of steals.  Only 9 turnovers.
  • 3 guys on the All South regional team (Butler, Teague, Mitchell) with Mitchell being the MVP.  He played a great second half to be paired with Jared’s great first half and MaCio’s great all around game.  MaCio’s endurance is elite.
  • Getting Notae out of the game was big.  He was the one hurting Baylor from 3.

Needs Work

  • Got clowned in the paint at times on defense, need to get some things ironed out by next Saturday.
  • Allowed 11 offensive rebounds (38%) and sent the Hogs to the foul line too many times (23).
  • Davion Mitchell 0-3 from the free throw line?  Come on Davion!  Great to see Jared make his free throws today!
