After opening the season on a sour note with a 1-7 record, the Bears bounced back with a weekend sweep of Oral Roberts and a narrow loss to No. 20 DBU.

Baylor baseball opened its 2024 campaign with a winless record at the Shriners Children’s College Showndown at Globe Life Field in Arlington but showed major signs of improvement compared to last year.

The Baylor baseball team split the four games they played this past week.

Hunter Simmons and Cole Posey led the Bears on offense, while Mason Marriott and Will Rigney took care of business on the mound.

It was an up-and-down week for the Baylor baseball team. After being swept by Mercer in an ugly showing, the Bears bounced back and picked up a shutout win over Rice on Tuesday night at Baylor Ballpark.

Kolby Branch takes home "Slugger of the Week." While Mason Marriott wins "Ace of the Week."

Baylor's pair of talented freshmen take home the offensive awards. While Hambleton Oliver and Andrew Petrowski shined out of the bullpen.

Jared McKenzie and Kyle Nevin both continued to hit well at the plate, but the entire pitching staff struggled in the series against Texas and the game against Incarnate Word.

Kyle Nevin was honored as the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week and Kobe Andrade took home Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after his complete game on Friday night against Kansas.

The Bears are currently on a five-game losing streak heading into the Kansas series. Pitching struggled this past week. And outside of Jared McKenzie, the offense did not match the output from the last two weeks.

Led by Jared McKenzie, Baylor's offense scored 36 runs in four games. Tyler Thomas, Kobe Andrade, and Will Rigney were combined to give up 5 ER in 17 IP.

Baylor's offense has been on fire as of late. The Bears have totaled 39 runs in their last four games. Minus a brutal loss on Saturday afternoon, there were a lot of positives to take away from this week.

Esteban Oquendo-Cardoza takes home the slugger of the week award. Jared McKenzie looks to get things turned around heading into the weekend. Tyler Thomas, Jake Jackson, and Will Rigney all had fantastic weeks.

Cortlan Castle takes the slugger of the week honors after an impressive opening series. Tre Richardson and Nicolas Balsano look to stay hot going into the weekend series versus Duke. Tyler Thomas proved why he was the ace of the week.
