As the Bears inch closer to their season opener against Auburn on Friday, Aug. 29, at McLane Stadium, Grayson Grundhoefer and Levi Caraway try to predict Baylor’s depth chart on defense.

The Baylor defense has a lot to prove in 2025, and if you’re looking for the pressure point, or the one position group that will raise the ceiling or expose the floor, it’s on the edge of the defensive line at the outside linebacker spot.

Early reports from fall camp have indicated that Oregon transfer outside linebacker Emar’rion Winston is rising up the ranks as one of the top vocal leaders on the team and is potentially poised for a breakout season.

For my third and final question, I asked the same sources about which players have emerged as the alphas of this 2025 team. The responses were spread far and wide across the team, which seems like a good thing.

For my second question, I asked the same sources about which players have emerged as the biggest leaders. Three of the names won’t surprise you, but there is one vote that caught me off guard in a good way.
