UTEP EDGE Jaylin Jones has committed to Baylor following his official visit. He joins Oregon transfer Emar'rion Winston (RJr.) and Tulane transfer Matthew Fobbs-White (Jr.) as the third EDGE prospect the staff has brought in via the transfer portal.
BAYLOR TRANSFER PORTAL COMMITMENT LIST
“Baylor’s coaching staff and I have a close relationship,” Jones said. “We talked and we started to come to the conclusion that Baylor is the place I should’ve been from the start, and I couldn’t agree more, so I canceled all my other visits.”
Baylor heavily recruited Jones out of West Brook High School (TX), but ultimately, his official visit to Waco was canceled, and the two sides moved in different directions. He committed to Purdue before the start of his senior season, then flipped to UTEP on National Signing Day in February.
He was a consensus three-star recruit in the 2024 class and held offers from nearly 20 schools, including Duke, Indiana, Purdue, Houston, Texas Tech, Utah and Tulane, among others.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound prospect made the C-USA All-Conference freshman team this past season. He played 132 snaps and finished with 12 tackles and a 60.5 defensive grade per Pro Football Focus.
He also played a lot of special teams last season, so there is a chance he will be impactful immediately, or he could even use his redshirt year.
Jones has three years of eligibility remaining.
