Help.

I went in last week with stones and was treated in ER. I am having a lot of pain almost a week later even though only one stone showed on the scan. I thought I passed it and was good on Saturday through Tuesday night. Back to being in pain now

Any guidance? Tips to make it through? I'm willing to try anything

Just because only one stone was large enough to be visualized, doesn't mean there aren't smaller stones/crystals/silt/sand/etc that will cause a lot of pain. Lots of fluids, pain meds, watch for blood, fever, etc. If it persists, may need to direct contrast injection into ureters.

Drink lots of water. I've had them for years. I've got a big stone in my left kidney ( 3/4 the size of a golf ball) and every couple of years it chips off a couple of tiny stones. I pass them without much ado and go on living. I haven't taken any pain medicine in about eleven years. Cowboy Up. You'll be ok.

Thanks for the heads up and responses. I'll just keep on drinking water for sure.

Any info definitely helps because I have never had one. I'd rather not experience it again, but if it happens it happens.

It is pretty painful for sure

Drink, drink, drink, drink and then drink more (water, I mean). If you can get a doctor to prescribe FloMax, get that. That made a huge difference to me.

Believe it or not, drinking a lot of beer has been known to pass a stone.

Have heard cranberry juice recommended, as well as olive oil. Use lemon juice, lemon in water, tea etc to prevent.

Only 20% of folks get kidney stones. But 80% of those who get one will get more.

Pay close attention to your liquids and diet. I drink plenty of water, and still have had a kidney stone. Dehydration can play a factor but you'd need to see a urologist to find out the true cause and they'd need to ru tests.

Avoid nuts and difficult to digest items. It's certainly worth researching and the preventative efforts diet and food wise can be very effective.

One of my close friends boarded a flight to Australia, on hour 3 of the 19 hour flight he had two kidney stones. No pain meds. Pretty much sucked down all the whiskey on the plane just dealing with the pain.

It hurts like f no doubt.
