Winning by cheating is just as impressive as winning fairly, probably even more so. Your opponent was better than you in every way, and you beat them with your brain.

Buckingham is one of the greatest guitar players. He does not show up on most list of great ones, but should.

I'd say fk all those idiotic lists, judging from what I've seen. They rank dudes like Ry Cooder and George Harrison above Dimebag Darrell and Guthrie Govan.

From circa 1973..when a group of "South Waco" Boys had a hand in the rising music scene in Austin..They were the "Moonhill" bunch..and had a part in managing "Buck Wheat", Steve Fromholz, Rusty Wier, and others..A great time to just be alive!

Love him. Also a big player on the "Dazed & Confused" soundtrack

Hate to date myself, but D&C really captures HS in Texas in the 70s

Ive never seen a movie that portrays HS accurately, but having said that D&C is an unassailable Texas classic, along with Varsity Blues which also has a good soundtrack.

Very Accurate. Certainly different from the Christain school upbringing,

One of the backlashes of the Vietnam war was "if you can kill an 18-year-old you can't deny him a drink" The drinking age in Texas from the mid-70s to the very early 80s was 18. I was a teen then. Good times.

A sub-plot of the movie is the hazing of incoming FR. Did not really happen at my HS. Much like American Graffiti updated with much more beer & weed. Many big names early work there Rene Zelwinger, Ben Afflick, and M McConaughey.

Thats what Im referring to, wholly inaccurate. Our seniors didnt give a sht about incoming freshmen. They just wanted to play Halo2 and smoke a bowl before they went off to college.

Bullying at my HS was done on a more 1 on 1 level than anything Ive ever seen depicted on film, and it was usually verbal and very rarely physical.

The hazing crap just could have been left out, still very enjoyable even with it. Not a huge player. The accuracy comes from the feel or vibe of the flick -

Also from Linklater is "Everybody Want Some" It also is really good. That is the follow-up to D&C but no carryover characters. It takes place 4 years later and is a snapshot of early 80s Texas college.

Trivia - went to BU, and actor Jonathan Banks played the coach. Banks is also the creature in the horror flick "Jeepers Creepers"
