One of my all time favorites. A timeless classic!

When your girlfriend covers a great song by a great artist! I can't recall if this was from the first Linda Ronstadt album I bought, but I know it was one of the first!

Bexar, Patsy still is the queen of this song, but geez, I love Linda!

One more cover of "I Fall to Pieces"…. And it is slowed down, more bluesy!

Jimmy Lafave and Kelcy Warren (think Klyde Warren Park over Woodall Rogers) went together on a record label…. And Jimmy co-produced a tribute album to Jackson Browne titled "looking into you"…

Here is a song that everyone knows, but if you lived in Houston in the late 1970s and early 1980s, this is the version you knew first. It's Kelly Schoppa's rendition of Amarillo by Morning. Kelly's version sold around a quarter million copies around 1981-82, with 30% of the worldwide sales coming in Houston. I remember it on Houston country stations there all the time in the early 1980s. It was a great song by a local musician. George Strait heard it, loved it, and recorded it a year or so later and it became his signature song. Weird trivia - Kelly toured with George around that time and they both played "Amarillo by Morning" on the same nights and the crowd would wonder why Kelly was playing George's song. Kelly was a talented local musician who never got the national recognition that he might have deserved.



George went to much bigger and better things, sometimes playing for audiences of close to 50,000. Kelly ended up playing slightly smaller venues. Here is Kelly playing "his" signature song in 2011.
