I've seen several Linda Ronstadt posts here lately. I've always loved her music. Fantastic voice. A lot of you have probably seen this, but for those of you who haven't, here's where she shows what she can really do vocally, in Pirates of Penzance with Kevin Kline and Angela Lansbury. Even if you're not into Broadway/light opera, you have to be amazed at the voice control. And from someone who, up until then, was known just as a pop icon. She pretty much stole the show, vocally and being downright gorgeous. She's great all through it but starting at 2:52 she shows off just a bit, alternating with a flute. An amazing vocal talent! Her pop stuff shows off her incredible voice in varoius spots, but this shows a really full range.
I like a lot of different kinds of music and one is older country music. I'm also a big fan of good guitar work and have always loved Chet Atkins. Here is a duet a with Chet and young Dolly Parton back in the mid 70's. Dolly's not appreciated as a guitarist, but she can play. I like at 2:15 when she says "All that good part ain't all Chet." Sounds like they were having a blast playing.
Winning by cheating is just as impressive as winning fairly, probably even more so. Your opponent was better than you in every way, and you beat them with your brain.
