BREAKING: Baylor to hire Dallas Baker as new WR Coach

WACO, Texas — University of Buffalo wide receivers coach Dallas Baker is expected to be hired in the same role at Baylor University, SicEm365 has learned. Baylor University officials have not confirmed this report.

FootballScoop.com was the first to report the hire.

Baker helped lead the Bulls passing attack which averaged 215 yards per game through the air. Eastern Michigan transfer Quian Williams led the receiving room with a career year as he finished with 835 yards and two touchdowns on 64 receptions. Senior receiver Dominic Johnson showed massive improvement as he totaled 457 yards and two scores despite only having 89 career yards prior to the season. True freshman Jamari Gassett profiles as a breakout player heading into next season thanks to Baker’s tutelage.

Prior to his one season at Buffalo, Baker spent four seasons as Marshall’s wide receivers coach. 

In 2017 and 2018 he coached two-time first-team All-Conference USA pick Tyre Brady who piled up 133 receptions for  1,944 yards and 17 touchdowns during those two seasons.

Baker is a native of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. His Florida connection was evident on the recruiting trail during his time at Marshall as the Herd brought in 30 prospects from the state including 11 prospects in the 2019 class alone.

Prior to his time at Marshall, he held the wide receivers coach position as well as the passing game coordinator role at Warner University.

Baker played his college ball at the University of Florida from 2003-2006 and was a first-team All-SEC selection. He helped guide the Gators to a National Championship victory over Ohio State in the 2007 BCS National Championship. 

He was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2007 NFL Draft and played there from 2007-2009, winning a Super Bowl following the 2008 season.

Back in early March, I was in between flights at BWI airport and saw this guy with Baylor athletic gear on. I did a "sic em" and inquired about his Baylor connection. It was Dallas Baker who was en route to Miami from Buffalo. We talked for a few minutes. He was very humble and grateful to be on the Baylor staff. Seems like a perfect culture fit for Aranda's staff.

You watch that video and I see HUMBLENESS and GRATEFULNESS......That guy will work and work and work to get the most of each of the players who desire an Education but also want to play at the next level.

Very excited for this hire and hope he stays at Baylor for years to come... Welcome.
