The only bright spot is the one that we all thought would be the worse, the play of Hoffman and Bass. They held up pretty well. Pollard has 122 yards

Horrible day play calling for McCarthy and just as bad for Dan Quinn.

I'm starting to lean toward not giving Dak an extension but see what else we can do with $50mil a year

Long season yet but yeah you have Alex Smith and you gotta find your Pat Mahomes.
Daks final year is set to count $59.4 million against the salary cap in 2024.

And that is a lot, the going rate but a lot.

Who are we going to get that's better

Immediately, maybe no one or maybe you can unlock Trey Lance, but I think we have seen Dak's ceiling.

Dak has had tons of opportunities and failed so many times. His fails in the red zone have sent me over the edge. You trade Dak for a ton of draft picks and start playing your youngsters. We have skill players at several positions. Go with them

Its an ongoing process across the NFL. Unfortunately we decided Dak was our Hall of Famer way too soon. However he still holds value around the league. Trade him to a team that looks to be toward the bottom of the NFL and get a high draft pick ASAP plus another the next year. I hold no hope for Dak as I am seeing the same mistakes over and over. He freezes as he gets closer to the end zone

Not really if you think about it. Yeah we had a massive drought between Aikman and Romo, but between Romo and Dak we really haven't pursued an upgrade but rathet tried to ride with what we had. To be fair the gap between Aikman and Romo proved we sucked at QB evaluating.

Tony had many of the same brain farts Dak does. I will say Dak has played with better defenses under Quinn but frankly I dont see much difference.

If you had a QB that had earned, projects to finish his contract being paid, $196,317,825, how many Super Bowl championships would you want him to have earned? Thats what Dak made/makes through next season when his contract is up

I dont really see this as a salary discussion as he is borderline top 10 and is getting paid the going rate. The question is what is your off ramp...and who

I really dont care, as accepting Dak means him getting an extension and I am not okay with that anymore as I think you summed it up when you said that Dak has reached his ceiling. Better to get a couple of 1sts and whatever else you can get out of a trade and use that $50ish mil in pursuit of other QBs, positions or whatever. An extension means that we would have him for the forseeable future, a $50 million dollar QB that falls apart in the red zone

Problem is, if you trade him, you still take the cap hit so you're not getting that $59mm to use anyway.

Yep! Your best play is to let him walk and take the comp pick. What they really should have done is tagged him the first time as a non-exclusive franchise tag.

Yep. Non-exclusive and get 2 firsts for him would/should have been the play. Now it's just walk and get a 3rd/4th rd comp pick.

"Y'all put us on top of the world," said Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott, who was 25 of 40 for 249 yards, a touchdown and a critical interception. "We knew who we are. In that same sense, I'm sure the media got what it wanted. For us, there hadn't been but one undefeated team. It sucks, it's humbling, but to say it's a wake-up call, we knew we had a lot of adversity and we just didn't get it done. It just goes back to myself, the offense, in the red zone. We get better there, we win this game. But we've got to fix that area, period."

Quote:

Heavy Sports' Evan Reier explored the idea of the Cowboys signing veteran Bradley Roby. The defender was released by the Saints as the team finalized their 53-man roster ahead of Week 1.
"So disappointing. What a fun defense that's been to watch the first two weeks," ESPN's Bill Barnwell tweeted on September 21. "Wonder if the Cowboys call Bradley Roby, who has been a free agent after being cut by the Saints at the end of camp."
The good part of this possible move is the signing would not cost Dallas a future draft pick since Roby is a free agent. Longtime Cowboys starter Anthony Brown is also a free agent after a brief stint with the 49ers. NFL Network's Jane Slater reported that Brown is not being considered as a potential replacement option.
Of course we could simply suit up former Pro Bowl CB and fellow Javelina, Al Harris who is our DB coach.
