Pierre-Paul totaled 2.5 sacks in 12 games with the Buccaneers last year while battling a shoulder injury (torn rotator cuff) that required surgery in February. Prior to that he'd had at least 8.5 sacks in four straight seasons. He has been a consistently good player in general over the course of his career, but he is 33 years old at the moment which is not exactly the prime age for pass rushers.

"We're still in the first 15 (minutes of the offseason),'' Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Saturday, via David Moore of the Dallas Morning News. "The first quarter is not even completed yet. If people are frustrated, well, sometimes games are a little frustrating. We've definitely come out with a run the football and take care of your own mindset. Outside of our own roster, we have a mindset where we're not going to throw the ball deep with every snap.

Randy Gregory has put the Dallas Cowboys behind him - contractually, if not emotionally.

Gregory spent Wednesday night in Denver dining with Broncos team officials ... and posting a message of thanks to the Broncos that is also, obviously, meant as a message to the Cowboys as well.

And on Sunday, he sent another message to Cowboys Nation, responding to pokes on Twitter by writing that the Cowboys have "a toxic fan base that believe I owe them something. LOL."

No. 2 Matt Waletzko, North Dakota
The Cowboys can make use of their third-round pick, 88th overall, to pick up Matt Waletzko from North Dakota. He's PFN's 101st ranked prospect on their board right now. He had a decent outing at the combine, running a 5.03 in his 40-yard dash along with a 30-inch vertical. Already having noteworthy length and a notable frame, Waletzko can add mass once he gets to the NFL level.

Waletzko has modest quickness and has superb movement for a player his size (six-foot-eight, 312 pounds) and will be beneficial in the run game. That's due to his tackling ability, which allows him to get to the second level with ease, largely due to his excellent hand usage.

OFFICIAL: Atlanta Falcons - We have traded QB Matt Ryan to the Colts for a 2022 third-round pick.

Cowboys agreed to terms on a new deal for Jayron Kearse on Monday. The new contract is reportedly for two years and $10 million, with the ability for the veteran safety to earn as much as $11 million.

Having made the final roster out of training camp, Kearse grabbed a starting job in Week 2 and ran with it. He played 88% of the defensive snaps, leading the team with 101 tackles, as well as 10 pass breakups, two interceptions and seven tackles for loss to go along with that.

Kearse also took over as the Cowboys' defensive play caller during the middle of the season, freeing up Micah Parsons to handle a more versatile role.

It's hard to imagine how this could have shaken out better for the Colts, who got a second-round pick and a third-round pick from Washington two weeks ago for Carson Wentz and now send one of their two third-rounders to Atlanta for Ryan. Think what you want of Ryan, but he's a clear upgrade over Wentz and by far the best available option for Indy at this point in the dizzying game of 2022

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had surgery on his non-throwing shoulder in February, and he told reporters Monday that he's doing well in his recovery from the procedure.

"It's great, I can do everything with it," Prescott said. "I'm fine."

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said earlier this month that the surgery would not impact Prescott's availability for Dallas' offseason program. So, it's not necessarily surprising that the quarterback is recovering well.

McCarthy also said the shoulder ailment bothered Prescott throughout the 2021 season, though he didn't believe it impacted how he played. The two-time Pro Bowler was impressive last season, too, especially considering he returned from a devastating ankle fracture that sidelined him for most of the 2020 campaign.

Prescott completed 68.8 percent of his passes for 4,449 yards and 37 touchdowns against 10 interceptions and rushed for 146 yards and one score. His performance led the Cowboys to an 11-5 record, though the team suffered an upsetting loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card Round.

Cowboys re-signed TE Dalton Schultz to a one-year, $10.931 million contract.

It's the value of the franchise tag. The sides weren't believed to be negotiating a long-term deal, and Schultz will instead collect the fully-guaranteed salary and get another shot at free agency next spring as a 26-year-old. With Blake Jarwin already waived/injured, Schultz has a clear path to every-down tight end duties once again in Dallas. And with Amari Cooper off the roster, there's a real chance Schultz could improve on his 78-808-8 line from last year. He's an easy fantasy TE1.

Baltimore resigned ZDarius SMith for $35m

Clowney - He's a good player at least nine sacks in three of the last four seasons, including last year but he's about to be on his fifth team in five years.

Clowney made $15 million in 2019 with Seattle, $13 million with Tennessee in 2020 and $8 million with Cleveland last season.
