We can afford a couple of FA;s. If you were Stephen Jones, who would those two be?
S is our most suspect position,
Jaquiski Tartt. He started every game for the San Francisco 49ers last season and played decently. He would come in on a one and done deal. Last year he signed for $1,127,500
contract with the San Francisco 49ers, including a $137,500 signing bonus, $987,500 guaranteed,
He can play both spots Tartt's a decent tackler and is solid in coverage.. He had 66 tackles and 5 for loss.
Sounds like a great rotation guy. Been in the league for 7 years so would be very helpful with the youngsters.
Javedon Clowney . - no way he is going to get $15m per In his eighth year in the league in 2021, the edge rusher turned things around. At 28 years old, he accumulated 9.0 sacks and 19 QB hits. Those are stats that any team would want to have from a member of their defensive line.
According to the grades given out by Pro Football Focus, Clowney's 90.9 run-defense grade since 2015 is the sixth-best among edge rushers. On a Cowboys line that struggled with defending the run, the current Brown would be a great asset. Clowney is physical and gives quarterbacks a lot to deal with. PFF predicts that the defensive end will likely sign another one-year contract worth about $15 million
But as his price drops into the $8-10m range, Cowboys could be very interested
Daryl Williams - the Bills OT, dropped due to Salary cap.
Hughes will be entering his 13th year in the NFL in 2022 at an impressive 34 years old. His age is likely a reason that teams aren't chomping at the bit to sign him immediately. However, the long-time Buffalo Bill would be an excellent depth addition to the defensive end group for the Cowboys. If Dallas is looking for more bodies at the position so that Micah Parsons can play around the defense, adding Hughes could be an affordable backup option.
Expectations have to be realistic though. Hughes isn't producing the way that he used to and his snap counts are certainly lower than in his younger years. However, he is still great at terrorizing quarterbacks and making his presence known. And, despite his age, Hughes has remained on the field when needed. Not only is he the longest-tenured player on the Bills, but he also has never missed a game due to injury in his nine years with Buffalo.
Another plus for the Cowboys is that the Bill is a Texas native who played collegiate football at TCU. Again, this would be the bargain option.
Spotrac predicts that the edge rusher could make a two-year contract worth just over $6 million. So, you may be losing some snaps, but you're paying significantly less.
