As always, keep track of both the stats and roster countdowns in the Offseason Hub!

Tony Anyanwu is a sophomore linebacker from Rowlett, Texas. He should have three years of eligibility remaining past this season, and Baylor’s website has him listed at 6-foot-2, 243 pounds. Anyanwu made the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the fall of 2021.

Anyanwu missed his redshirt freshman season in 2021 due to injury but is fully back to speed going into 2022. With Garmon Randolph being sidelined throughout the spring, opportunities arose for Anyanwu to make a potential impact on the coaching staff at linebacker.

The Rowlett native redshirted the 2020 season but played in four games and recorded a quarterback hurry against West Virginia.

Coming out of Sachse High School, he helped his team to an 8-3 record in 2019. He recorded 46 tackles, nine sacks, 21 QB hurries, and forced two fumbles as a senior. Baylor’s website notes that 2018 was Anyanwu’s first season playing high school football. He went on to have three TFLs and four sacks in only six games played. He was the No. 157 player in Texas according to 247, and Dave Campbell’s Texas HS Football ranked him a top defensive lineman. While in high school, he also competed in the discus and basketball. He committed to Baylor over Lamar in the 2020 class.
