Aranda is not the answer

Someone needs to say it. Aranda won with Rhules seniors. His "calm" shtick" is not cool anymore. He shows no emotion and the players reflect that. He looks brain dead during the game and never has his headset down. I get he doesn't call plays but he hears them and doesn't change anything. The quicker we move on, the quicker we get back to winning

Of course he did and because Rhule hung us out to dry for so long, Aranda's first class was basically anyone we could get. Aranda's recruits from the last two recruiting classes are mostly freshmen or redshirt freshmen. The recruiting class the second year was limited because of how crappy we did during the Covid year. He has only been able to recruit on success one time (current recruits). And the quicker you fire someone that just got hired sends the message to any coach worth their salt to say thanks, but no thanks.

Just wondering how you earned your user name.

Because I see right through Bernstein bear bullsh*t he talks about. Watch him on the sideline through out a game and tell me what he actually does.

Aranda has been solid for us so far. People forget that he took over a program with looming sanctions from a coach that basically didn't recruit in 2019 because he had a foot pit the door. We had a couple good quarterbacks interested in the program, but they understandably cooled when rhule left at the last minute. That left us with Blake Shapen who was sort of the best quarterback available at the last minute. Then Covid hit. 2020 was a bit of a mulligan year. Then we saw vast improvement in 2021 and had arguably our best year ever. You can definitely criticize individual moves that Aranda has made like the Bohannon thing and some of the staffing decisions perhaps, but holistically speaking he's been a solid coach for us

The 'I don't like him because he's calm' thing is kind of silly. Would you like him to jump up and down like a Teletubby and crap his pants? Give rousing speeches? How is that working for Joey Maguire. The offensive and defensive coordinators are the ones calling the plays. The coach is controlling the game from a high level. Honestly, what do you expect him to do differently, and please explain how that change will be better

I've actually never commented there. But I see you have the same mindset as them where you think any criticism is a personal attack on you

I can think of several games this year and last year that we would not have won had we not gone for it on ballsy fourth downs. If you weren't singing his praises after those wins, don't crucify him after the quarterback misses wide-open receivers. You could argue that that is coaching, but it's also the fact that Rhule recruited quarterbacks that can't pass

Every good coach gets fired up on the sideline. He never does. Have you ever seen him argue bad calls??? I'm actually a former player and I can tell you from personal experience, that stuff gets the team fired up. When he just sits there arms crossed, it shows he doesn't care and it reflects in the players

No one needs to defend this post. Aranda is the dude. He forgot more about football than Sonny Dykes but Dykes had a better team this year (barely). Aranda is a few extra points and field goal away from being 8-3. Stupid post.

Jesus fool...Matt Rhule has nothing to do with this loss..did he not sign Bohannon?

How about some player development of Shapen? I know Rhule was good at that.
BaylorGuru

But he's not. And most the losses are on the coaches

You don't need to take the Lord's name in vain, but nothing surprises me with this superficially Christian university.

I would counter the point about development by saying that you can only polish a turd so much. Another counter to that point is that under Rhule, Charlie Brewer regressed as he got older.

I would give it another year. As I said we are a couple of extra points away from being 8-3. I know if we had GB at QB we would be 8-3 or 9-2 and that is an Aranda decision but from what I've seen, 2-7, to 12-2 Sugar Bowl win to a bowl game, I'm not throwing Dave under the bus just yet.

No . Charlie got better under Rhule..7-6 to 11-3..Brewer was crap under Aranda .

Keep up.

I just don't think our struggles this year have been from lack of getting fired up. I think it's more about the Jimmy's and Joe's. It's an interesting point you bring up though

How do you know we'd be 9-2 with GB?

You realize he's the reason we lost to TCU last year, right?

He's also the reason Baylor made it to the B12 championship.

Not exactly a Bohannon ride-or-die, but food for thought.

Actually... we were pretty damn good in the 80s. So, yes I have seen prosperity and poverty. Always grateful for the former, no matter the abundance.

Depends on what you mean by pretty damn good. Was this season pretty damn good?

We had 80,85, & 86 that were really good. The rest of the 80s were either about like this season or worse.

You're leaving out some pretty crucial context, like the numerous concussions Brewer suffered under Rhule that clearly damaged his mind and body. That's not Aranda's fault.

I totally disagree. First you need to give a coach a least 5 yrs to fully implement his system. Aranda has a very good recruiting class coming in and as I have been saying forever football is won in the trenches. There are some very good OL and DL players coming in or that have been redshirted.

I have been a big supporter of Shapen because of that arm he has. It has become obvious he has problems going through he progressions, very slow which makes him late throwing the ball. This can be developed so I hope he works on that.

But the main problem I have is in playing calling. At times the offense looks great running the ball, but when the defense puts 7 in the box to stop the run that's is when the playing suffers. Where did this double reverse pass come from today, just don't understand it.

Medical degree?

I counter that Larry Fedora did more damage than any concussion.
