fun story time: maybe 1-2 months ago, i'm playing a video game (apex legends) and my friends username has sicem in it. we get a random in our group and he asks if we root for baylor - i told him i root for them, am an alumni, football season ticket holder, donor. he tells me he went to baylor a few years back, then went to one school, and is now at another. his username has his first name in it, i ask if he's the player i was thinking and he says yes. rhule recruit from 2019. i asked him why he left and he told me when rhule left - the atmosphere was horrible. instead of a focus on culture, big picture roles and responsibility, and x's / o's - it was all x's and o's. like only x's and o's. even at his high school it was a bigger than yourself mentality. once rhule left - there was no real world application of the theoretical stuff or purpose driven anything. only as measure of if you knew and understand the play calls. his positions coach, who admittedly i dont recognize the name he said, was absent from group meetings and seemed to care more about the next job than much about the players/team/school - openly spoke about fielding calls from larger programs. he spoke to his parents because he felt uneasy about the future and they said yeah we agree with you to transfer somewhere else.

at the time...i was like boy i bet he's regretting leaving and wishes he could be back with this team. after the back-half of this season and this bowl game - i bet he's thanking his lucky stars he ejected when he did.

Losing to a Mountain West team at our rivals stadium, in sub-zero wind chill conditions, is a fitting ending to the season.
