TCU vs UGA

One thing to remember is tcu is probably by far the most experienced team to ever play in the CFB Playoff.. Cincy might have been close but I don't know as much about them. They are old and will try to stay old. It is one way to mitigate talent disadvantages. 22 yr olds against 19 yr olds is an advantage no matter the talent differential (see college bball).

The Covid situation compounded by a new coach utilizing the new portal is what made this possible. It is not something you should expect to see very often.. it is an aberration made possible by the unique set of circumstances all coming together at once. Now they have to finish it.

Tech bball probably isn't getting back to the national championship game anytime soon. Have to win when you have the chance because odds are you will never get back there again.

The Big10 is 2 teams. Michigan was not battle tested. TCU was. Georgia is battle tested and better in the trenches than any team TCU has faced. UGA annihilated Tennessee's vaunted receiving corps. Hyatt was a complete non factor(Biletnikoff winner). Hyatt is also like 170 pounds so Johnson may be able to beat bump and run coverage a little more consistently.

The X factor is Duggan's legs vs the UGA defense. Stroud made play after play against UGA with his legs. If UGA struggles to stop unscripted quarterback runs then this will be a game. If they adjust and contain it then it'll probably be a bit of a snooze fest.

As mentioned above TCU can't bank on defensive points. They'll probably bleed some yards on the ground but bow up in the red zone and force field goals. Shut down Brock Bowers and the backs in the passing game. Stick Hodges-Tomlinson on McConkey and erase him.

If I'm UGA I'm forcing Duggan to throw inside the pocket. Contain with the ends and try to send pressure from the middle with Jalen Carter and the occasional blitzing. Feed Bowers and get some early QB run plays with Stetson to force the defense to respect it all night.
I think Duggan's the X-factor, which isn't saying much because that's true most games. Unlike Stroud, who is primarily a pocket passer, Duggan's an elite runner who can quickly turn nothing into something. With the weapons they have at running back and receiver (I hope Kendre Miller returns), that makes the Frogs very difficult to defend for 60 minutes.

I think Georgia is better, and I think Georgia will win. But I stopped underestimating this TCU team a long time ago. When you win 13 games against the schedule they've played, you're a pretty damn good football team.
Georgia is better. TCU wins 5 of 100 games, we are hoping for one of the 5. No one thought Villanova would beat Georgetown. It happens.

Good situation has happened - B12 got in the playoff
Better situation has happened - B12 gets in the Championship Game
Best situation - Would be B12 joining the SEC and B10 as NC winners in the Playoff era.

Good points and I agree but I think they win more than 5 out of 100
Hope you are right. ESPNU had a nice discussion on what this means to the B12 this morning.

My only sort of prediction is don't be surprised if Stetson Bennet out-Max Duggans the real Max Duggans. Because he plays on a stacked team that is expected to win, I think people really underrate him. Dude is a gamer x 100.

I'm conflicted. I want TCU to win for the betterment of the B12...but I hate TCU. Womp womp.

We all are but the Big 12 really needs at least a great showing by the Frogs this evening. What does a Frog fan say? Croak? Doesn't sound right. Sic' em Froggies?

Well, those that wanted the B12 embarrassed, look like they are going to get their wish. Looks like TCU is lost on D.

Meh. Georgia qb will be carried off before end of the half

Too much hubris

Whatever the reason, this looks like a mismatch. This is not good for B12.

This could get away from TCU early if they're not careful.

What a bogus holding call against Georgia that gave TCU the first down. I sure hope the refs aren't trying to make this a game.

Georgia does this to everyone when they're dialed in.

They made Oregon, Tennessee and LSU look like JV teams.

Definitely turbo cockiness by georgia. Teams like that get surprised. But who knows. Tcu barley squeaked by one of our worst teams in a decade plus

They are going to **** TCU up. This is looking like when we played Georgia in 2019. Though we had a better defense than TCU.

TCU is going to have to find a way to turn this into a football game. If they can't settle in at some point and find a way to move the ball/chains against this defense, this is going to be a very long night for them.
Chuckroast

And Georgia was out like 15 starters for that game.

Tcu has 1 yard so far

But will just take one score for georgia to pucker a bit.
