I love Baylor but we could use a more consistent fan base. The early September games can be tough. Students often pack under the awning and into the concourse for shade and older season ticket holders can't sit for 4 hours in 100+ degree heat. That being said older fans should be able to sell their tickets without a problem to a fellow fan and students sometimes don't bring the passion when the weather is good.
Top it off some of the alumni sit there like it's church. You don't have to be drunk to yell. It isn't a sin to make noise on 3rd down. As a student I definitely went to some games where I'm sweating my ass off getting loud with all my friends and the alumni side is seated like Tiger Woods is about to tee off at the Masters.
BU is famous for the "announced attendance". I understand your statement highlighted in bold print, BUT schools like TX, OU, aggy, AL, GA, etc, etc their fan bases are faced with exactly the same issues and their stadiums are full. I just don't buy that argument. Look across the Nation, pick any big school and its pretty much the same... larger # of people, same heat, students, OLD people, etc. Face it, I've witnessed it for sixty-five plus years, it's a Baylor thing. Winning, yeah winning matters; however, BU has/had winning programs in BB as of late and I'll be willing to bet the new 7,500 capacity arena will have sparse attendance more so than not. Hoping not, but history may prove it out. Sadly, it can be argued, I have no doubt it plays a roll in recruiting as well to a degree.
