This is devastating news on the long-term recruiting front. Despite what some may believe, giving access to Texas recruits to Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado along with elevating SMU and Houston to power conference status does not magically create more recruits in the state of Texas for those programs to add to their recruiting classes. These changes will come at a cost.

Yep, BU has it's issues of being mediocre in SWC, Big12 and now Big12+. Not getting much respect anywhere even after B12 Championship and SB victory.

This disrespect is where exactly? Our President sits as the head of the Big 12 Board of Directors.

I've checked more than once… don't see BU in any rankings. Of course it's pre-season, but no where to be found. Not much discussion by any and all pundits currently, toads and Joey seem to catch most attention. Upon the first "four" joining B12 some mentioned BU as a top tier contender of the conference. Kinda died down.Hopefully, their playing can change that. We'll find out second week if there is any credence.

Reading tonight SMU gets no money for 10 years. Stanford and Cal get 30% for 7 years and 100% in 10 years if ACC is still alive

The four, UNC,FSU,Clemson and NCS voted as block to not expand. NCS folded today snd voted to expand.

Wonder if chicken **** ND gets full share since they sponsored expansion but aren't full members

Abercrombie. You have been a doomsdayer for the XII and or Baylor all along. Up until the past few months you were talking how the new XII would collapse in the face of the strong and lucrative Pac for example. Now that the opposite has occurred the sky is still falling for Baylor because the XII is now large, strong, diverse, healthy and SMU is now in the ACC for free.

The even newer version of the XII is not bad at all for Baylor or any other Texas member or any member for that matter, it is extremely good in fact. No Texas school should should be scared or intimidated by SMU being in the ACC. You need to knock off your every thing is terrible for Baylor schtick.

Yeah, I had to put him on ignore some time ago because his constant attempts to sing the same lyrics to a million different songs was beyond tiresome.

If Baylor starts out 4-0 with wins over two ranked teams, we will almost certainly be ranked. Right now, no one has any reason to rank Baylor in the top 25.

That's a big "if".

When the ACC blows up… and it will when Clemson and FSU leave - SMU is gonna go right back down. But at least they'll be going with Wake, BC, and a few others.

SMU gaining admission to the ACC is biggest surprise in their program's history.

Not sure who gets the credit, but he deserves a huge raise.

An absolute life saver for SMU athletics.

Glad Stanford and Cal found homes in the ACC

Sad that WSU and especially Oregon State will have to play as independents or join the Mountain West.

You do know we're allowed to recruit in other states and work the transfer portal right? You remind me of that lieutenant in LOTR to Theoden in the movies who says "long has he foreseen this doom!" Aragorn proceeds to kick ass and continue heading east.

Recruits not from Texas:
Tyquan Thornton, Blake Shapen, Gerry Bohanon, Matthew Klopenstein, Sean Thompkins, Carl Williams, Kaian Roberts-Day, George Maile, Alfonzo Allen, Tevin Williams, Devin Neal, Micah Mezzccua, Al Walcott, Garmon Randolph, Blake Bedier, John Lovett, Khalil Keith, the list goes on…

Let's revisit this conversation in 4 years - when Baylor will (of course /s/) be recruiting at or above its current level of recruiting despite the changes in the landscape to both the Big 12 and Texas based power conference teams in general. That recruiting metric will make it easier to quantify when we circle back since 247 tracks that info in an easy to digest way.

Can we exchange West Virginia for SMU?

Just kidding.

They'll both be Big 12 teams when the ACC finally explodes.

I fully expect Miami, Clemson, North Carolina, and Florida State to all go to the Major 2.

I then expect that the Major 2 will take a 4-6 more ACC and Big XII teams.

The Big XII will then eat the remainder of the ACC and realignment will cool down until the next contract negotiations.

The Major 2 / Power 2 scenario is what I'm thinking, too. When it happens we'll need BY to work some magic to keep the Big 12 and other conferences at the table. I think the Power 2 are going to start looking for ways to exclude the rest of us.

Actually, we will all be included.

Greed has no end, and as long as the major two keep adding to their portfolios, all of the traditional P5's should wind up in one or the other

Hopefully with the larger conferences college football stops with these goofy non-con games like Georgia vs UT-Martin. There is absolutely no need for a game where one team is picked to win by 50! Crazy and waste of time.

Looks like a pretty bad start, but like every season I'll reevaluate after it's complete and not knee-jerk.

Absolutely guaranteed we will NOT be in big two group when our GOR expire. We are OSU and WSU come 2032

That's another reason why we can't wait around with Aranda. We need to take decisive action and cut him loose quickly if this turns into the losing season it's looking like.

A little early to be dooming that much over something that may or may not happen. No one predicted the Big 12 surviving or the Pac 12 imploding, no one can predict what is ahead in conference realignment either, especially way out to 2032.

Florida State and Clemson will leave the ACC within 2-3 years after their non revenue teams have to fly cross country to Stanford and Cal a few times. Got to wonder if any university cares about their legitimate student athletes anymore.

Expect both programs to join the SEC.

At which point the ACC could legitimately claim to be the only Academic Conference in the NCAA

When the ACC implodes, be ready for the two major conferences to start taking the pick of the litter from the ACC and the XII.

I think we are headed for a professional college football league made up of two conferences each with 32 to 34 programs per conference.

There's nothing in the current Big XII that would bring enough money to be considered for either the SEC or B1G.

Yep. Florida State is moving forward with their lawsuit to leave. Clemson will be gone. That leaves Notre Dame in what will be essentially a G5 conference in the future. Not sure what Miami will do.
