Bill snyder is like 90 I doubt he's telling kleinman how to coach
Have you ever met Bill Snyder? The guys last words will be coaching or asking about the butter situation. The man was and is the most driven person ever, he worked in his office with only 3 walls while they built the building. I am sure the "Snyder Way" is alive and well in Manhatten, watch them play. : )

First what does BU want to do? If you go young and from a lower program, there will be a learning curve. Rhule was experienced and did that curve at Temple. I think it has to be someone that can hit the ground running. The next 6 years will be important to be decent. Not the time to grow with new Coach learning P5 game.
i completely agree
KSU coach would disagree.....
You really think he is calling the shots at KSU? You don't think the "Bill Snyder" way is the way KSU rolls, period. Snyder was so anal he picked the brand butter on meals for flights and set the route for the buses to drive. You think he doesn't have any say. KSU is like Wisky, nothing happens in Madison without Alverez's blessing.
You have been watching too many of Dave's postgame reports if you think Snyder is controlling the reigns at KSU..

Controlling, no. Providing a stable backstop to solve problems and mentoring? Yes. Similar to Alverez.at Wisky. Barry doesn't run the show, but his walks with Belima and Chryst were well known.

Something Aranda would benefit from. Mack is just not the same as a HOF Coach

Ya I don't think he operates that way

i normally would balk at picking up an fcs guy but klieman took his program to multiple national titles - like you mentioned

i think a guy like that is a good hire, low risk with a lot of upside

He is a good fit, he fits the school, the area and the program. He is a good hire no doubt.

Snyder still mentors Venables. Would imagine he would continue to help out if needed. But, you guys know more about it.

i never liked snyder, i remember that guy ran the score up on us in a specific game (pick one right?) and that always stuck with me. something like going for a td with a minute left type of thing and they were already up 40-7

it wasn't until years later, beating them in 2012 when ksu entered the game #1 that i felt we got some payback

No issues. iIt was just speculation. I only met him once. Bowden was much more personable. My Brothers friend played FS for them in the 90's and spoke highly of KSU. My Brother worked for one of his assistants early in his career. But, I was never a Snyder or KSU fan, the guy could coach football though... He won. Anal as hell, but he won.

winners have their quirks

kind of like kim mulkey
she was not sunshine and giving out hugs but she was a winner and demanded excellence

Aranda could use a Snyder or Alverez to mentor him. I would be all for that. If we can't get rid of him, bring Teaff in to mentor him. Recreate the team. Status quo aint' cutting it.

Singletary would be interesting, he is authentic as hell. Hard nosed and could get in living rooms and no one is going to blow him off. Does he have any experience Coaching? I can't imagine him Coaching a weak minded or soft team.

Snyder was fine.
He was playing according to how the BCS was set up at the time. Point spread was a determining factor.
So it encouraged running up the score.

Beating them as #1 and knocking their QB out of Heisman talk was indeed glorious.

He was run out of SF - they didn't like the attitude or the Christian tilt. That same gourd of players went to the AFC Championship shortly afterwards if I remember...

Love to see Singletary back at Baylor.

Would like that as well well. Just wonder if he'd be a good coach. No real way to measure that, but I bet he'd be able to recruit.

You are way off. Being run out of SF had nothing to do with his attitude or faith.

Mike had no experience as a HC prior to being elevated to interim HC. He basically went from LB coach to interim head coach once Nolan was fired.

He instilled an attitude that was lacking on that team. He took them as far as he could and improved them in areas he could: toughness, discipline and playing with attitude. You ask any 49er fan and they would tell you the same thing. However, Mike fell short in other areas - mainly offense - their offense was pathetic. Plus his overall lack of HC capability - which is why he was fired.

this is a harsh reality to face but it is true nonetheless

especially now that OU is gone and we have watered down the league with a bunch of g5 teams and some of the worst teams in arguably the worst p5 conference (pac 12)

Curt Cignetti is now 10-0 and his team is #1 in the Sunbelt.

James Madison was in the FCS 2-3 years ago..

New coach/staff need deep Texas roots. With the help of Texas High School coaches the turnaround will be much quicker. It takes an exciting scheme on both sides running what the prayers want to play in as well as real NIL.money too.

Cignetti finally drops one, 26-23 OT loss to App St.

10-1 on the year now.

FWIW, James Madison railroaded Texas St last year..

What coaching opening? Dave ain't going anywhere. Mack, Admin and BOR don't care about on the field product. This is about off the field. Aranda is a kitten, a castrated kitten. There is NO danger of scandal, THAT is what they want. Aranda will be here for as long as HE wants to be.

I am prepared for SMU to move into the slot BU occupied. SMU wants to win, will Pony up to win and has the resources. SMU is BUs biggest danger going forward. Hell, what they got the Death Penalty for is legal today under NIL! They probably have the "How I Did It" by Ron Meyer in the shelves. Spark up the machinery....

That's a great idea. While his contract may be too expensive to fire him, nothing prevents a "CFO" (Chief of Football Operations) position from being created between Rhodes and Aranda and giving him effective control of the program. Fire the OC and DC, hire a better OC and effectively demote Aranda without having to buy him out.

But that's assuming that the AD and president are committed to playing championship football which is probably assuming a lot.

This weekend sealed it for me. They aren't. They are prepared to be Gonzaga and be BB/Baseball school. Aranda is welded. He is what they want

He is coming back. Dollars are one reason. The other is a lack of coaching candidates that fit within Baylor's parameters.

Plenty of candidates for Baylor, just whether we want to make a move or not. If we lay an egg vs WV and do nothing then I'll buy the hype that our administration gives 0 about football and simply wants a team for the stadium and homecoming
Bear75605
How long do you want to ignore this user?
There are plenty of candidates, but very few that will pass the Baylor litmus test. I would love to sit in on one of the interviews to see what they ask. I bet it includes a bible sword drill.
