Art Briles along with your ex-Athletic Director, and President needed to be FIRED for allowing/enabling too many sexual assaults against women and then not doing much after the assaults occurred. I applaud Baylor for owning up to it and doing what needed to be done. It tells me, as a parent, that the safety of the students and integrity of the University mean more than football. Some of you here think it should be the other way around and I find it disturbing, but I chalk it up to message board nonsense.

I'm sure there are members of the BOR that should be fired too, yet they still maintain their positions, but for anyone to suggest Art Briles should not have been fired is being either asinine, delusional, or both.

my daughter was there from 07 through 11 and she nor I ever feared for her safety.
I'm glad, but from the way you speak to people here, she was safe in spite of your wisdom.

Fact is a few bad apples ruined the former program, but since the ring leader didn't hold them accountable enough he's culpable.
over 90% of alleged assaults had nothing to do with athletes and Baylor has ignored that completely. They'd rather pretend as you would that it was all a rouge, win at all costs football coach, and the evidence does not support that.

so Milly says I'm a pervert and you say I'm a lousy parent... I guess the moderation of these boards is more like Baylorfans where unwarranted personal attacks are okey dokey
This coming from a man who accuses other people of performing fellatio on regents.

You really don't seem to comprehend that Art isn't being held accountable for all allegations across campus, just his transgressions towards the ones in his program, and one mishandling alone is a terminable offense.

I'm glad you think other men's daughters are statistics.

which are?

it wasn't realistic to expect Briles to stay much longer. He was cutting some corners, already at 62, not as motivated at times. He really wasn't out recruiting his ass off or anything. Too many buddies on his coaching staff. The only upside to him was passing the reigns to his kid.

I was under the impression this is why we hired an Athletics Director, but people kept telling me his job was to stay out of Briles way.

Not sure what else to say.

What the heck are you talking about? CAB loves football more than anything else. He wouldve coached here til the day he died. He wouldve coached anywhere til the day he died. But now he cant even get a job. And he loves winning more than anything else. Even more than campus safety. Which is what ultimately cost him his job at BU.
Really? yep that's what cost him his job!

Strange little man you are, sorry your home life is so unfulfilling you're on the internet rehashing Briles apologetics a year after his termination and accusing those that don't buy your pablum of performing lewd sex acts on regents.

actually, in real life, I'd even buy You a beer... I get people are different in the world than they are online...

Heck, I was friends wyith WAC in the real world.

and I get that I can ruffle some feathers from time to time.... but I put out there an actual heartfelt defense of someone that i have admired over the 3+ decades that I coached football... I explained in pretty good detail (for the internet) why I believe he was scapegoated...

I doubt you bothered to read past the first sentence or two... you definitely responded quickly....

but I have still never read why you are so absolutely sure that a man that has been such a good guy his entire life has suddenly become Richard III. and over some spares.... not one of these guys was RGIII or T Gannoway...

Hard to say, given the way the facts have been intentionally obscured.

But, based on the facts as I currently understand them, we probably should not have fired him. I think there were other and better ways to deal with this, making all the necessary improvements but without harming the university as much to get there.

Yeah, you CAB truthers think you can project your own MO on to others and then whine when you get it thrown back at you, fact is a year out from termination you still apologize for the inexcusable and all accuse people that call you out of performing fellatio with regents, it must be a weird cult initiation you lot do.

Flame away but the football team is now a giant money sink. If you combine the loss in lawsuits, reputation, the cost of the stadium and the eventual boot out of the P5 that will come. We might have had a chance at a spot in another P5 that is absolutely gone now. This might be the death keel for Baylor to the next level. Thank the BOR.
You are 100% correct. Several players should have been kicked off but that is it. A coach can't be a babysitter for 100 players. The players have an opportunity. If they blow it, they should be gone. The BOI made bad decision after bad decision. Now we are where we are and it looks similar to what we saw with Kevin Steele.

Problem is when the coach knows the players have done something and turns a blind eye to criminal allegations, he's culpable.

If you don't want to get caught, you make sure coach truly doesn't know a thing about what you do off the field, because Briles' texts made it loud an clear he had lieutenants "handle" issues internally instead of reporting them properly.
