Northeast Mississippi C.C. JUCO linebacker Keaton Thomas‍ gave his pledge to Baylor while on his official visit this week. Thomas gives Baylor’s 14 commits in the 2024 class and the second interior linebacker commit joining high school prospect, Kyland Reed.

Thomas chose Baylor over offers from Arkansas, Mississippi State, California, Colorado, Cincinnati, West Virginia, SMU, NC State and others.

BAYLOR 2024 RECRUITING COMMITMENT LIST

Baylor offered a couple of weeks ago and was the first Power Five program to extend an offer to do so.

“They have a great staff and a head coach who has coached and developed a lot of elite talent,” Thomas told SicEm365.

Thomas has built a strong relationship with Baylor’s linebacker coach Christian Robinson as they have known each other for many years at multiple different stops. Robinson has been his lead recruiter during this process.

“We have history. I came to camp at Florida a couple times and he liked me during his tenure there. I was just under recruited and a late bloomer to be honest,” Thomas said. “He watched my tape, loved what he saw and thought my game would help the team a lot in all phases.”

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound prospect posted 107 tackles, 10 for loss, 1.5 sacks, and two interceptions in 2023.

According to 247Sports, Thomas is the No. 3 linebacker in the junior college ranks. Earlier this week longtime commit Bo Tate flipped his commitment from Baylor to Stanford so the staff quickly turned its focus to the talented JUCO prospect.

This dude certainly looks the part, and his numbers are good. I welcome anyone who can help make our defense better next fall.

Seems Dave is not able to recruit Texas players. Since Texas has by far the largest number of Dr's this is a real shortcoming

What the biscuits does the number of Dr.s have to do with recruiting?

We pick up a position of high need and this is your critique. I often what a lot of you do for a living and how good you actually are at said job/career

Part of the high need is because of poor recruiting I ting in the richest recruiting area in the world. About 450 D1 prospects in Texas but since Joey our Texas recruiting has fallen. My remark was not on the caliber of the player. Baylor had always built on Texas players and Dave has no Texas roots. It doesn't help he has run the RVO which no Texas high schools run. After 2 very unsuccessful years the RVO is going but my impression it was a boat anchor in recruiting. Kids want Briles Ball not dull ball.

Fortunately Mack and his underlings were paying attention to the free board. He figured it out this season after reading our many threads. Hopefully we'll see a significant shift in offense next year.

And hopefully with guys like this get, D will improve as well.

Except Spavital doesn't run a Briles offense. I don't think high school football players think about Briles as much as some people think they do

Unless they're from Stephenville, they likely don't think about him at all. The obsession is pretty much limited to this board.

Art Briles was a great offensive football coach. But most spread coaches in Texas high school football are not running his offense or anything particularly close.

This looks to be a good get

He tackles high. Needs to fix that this off-season. P5 players are bigger, stronger, faster so he can't out-muscle opponents anymore.

On the flip side, seems like he can chase well.

I'm confused. He committed to us last weekend, then decided to go to a visit at Mississippi St this past weekend and now they MSU 247 site basically says he's flipping?

Out of curiosity, how many JUCO games have you been too?
