Montana State OL Omar Aigbedion Commits to Baylor

Baylor received a commitment from one of the top available transfer portal offensive linemen on Tuesday when Montana State offensive lineman Omar Aigbedion (6-2, 322) gave his commitment to Dave Aradna’s staff following an official visit to Waco over the weekend. 

He committed to Baylor over offers from Illinois, Arkansas, BYU, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Boston College and more. He is Baylor’s third transfer portal commitment.

Aigbedion has two years of eligibility remaining.

In 2023, the former Katy (TX) High School prospect was PFF's top-graded offensive guard at the FCS level with an 89.6 PFF grade, including an 89.7 run-blocking grade. He earned All-Big Sky Second-Team honors. As a freshmen in 2022, Aigbedion played 400 snaps for MSU.

Aigbedion is the first commitment for new offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic who was hired days prior to Agbedion’s official visit. 

The addition of Aigbedion comes at an important time as the Bears have seen three offensive linemen depart from the program since the end of the 2023 season. Redshirt sophomore Tate Williams (medical retirement), redshirt freshman George Maile (transfer) and redshirt freshman Tim Dawn (transfer) all recently announced their intentions to leave.

Highlighted by a move to a new scheme under new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jake Spavital, Baylor has seen drastic changes to the offensive side of the ball so far in the young offseason.

In addition to Spavital, the Bears have also welcomed new assistant coaches Khenon Hall (AHC/RB) and Chris Kapilovic (OL). Former quarterbacks coach Shawn Bell was also transitioned to coaching tight ends before ultimately departing for the University of Houston to coach the quarterbacks. Bell’s replacement has not yet been announced.
