Hey , it's just the old KU guy wanting to share, was here with you guys through out the last football season.

Will say this at least when the reno is done you guys will have a decent place to play against us in stead of a piece of warm dog doo that we have had for so long. It was for sure time , something HAD to be done. that the ( Booth Stadium was a joke.

They have really been getting busy since the end of the Season. If any of you have ever been to the stadium you know how bad it was, going to be really nice. - - Right now the entire West side is where the press box is and stands , and then the bowl are completely gone all torn down looks so weird. got the field all covered. Almost wonder along with some others if they shouldn't of just done a complete demo of it all..

I don't Know sounds like we are going to be playing a lot of the 2024 Season in Arrowhead Stadium - -not crazy about that, and the games we do play at the booth will be reduced capacity , not crazy about that but some times you have to sacrifice I guess. - Not sure where we going to get the money for Phase two which deals with the East side where the students and band sits , they were off on the cost for phase one, said it would be like 350 Million, but now saying just phase one alone is going to be 450 Million , got to think total cost now probably looking at heck I don't Know maybe 800 Million maybe --I just pulled that number out of the air haven't heard any numbers yet for phase two.

Ok guys I'll get off your boards, thank you for allowing me to be here , I have enjoyed the posts , a good group of people to inner act. w can be competitors and still have good conversation and I've gotten nothing but good response thank you-- I hope you all enjoy the off Season and hope you do well with your Basketball- - Well except when you play us anyways lol.

Have a great Season Bears , should be fun - -Rock Chalk

I'm excited to visit. Plan on going to Kansas for a duck hunting trip one of these days. Maybe I can add a football game in there as well!

There are worse places than Arrowhead as a temporary home.

The one time I attended a game there, it was bone-chilling cold (December) but the venue is great.

Pictures of the progress at KU's stadium would be interesting.

Thanks to the RockChalk poster.

PS--The one time I attended a game at Allen Fieldhouse was mighty impressive. Here's hoping that Foster Pavilion will rise to that level.

A few observations as a frame of reference:

Per Google Maps, Arrowhead is roughly the same distance from KU campus as Levi's Stadium is from downtown San Francisco (+/- 43 miles).

TCU tried to play with reduced capacity and ongoing construction when they redid Amon Carter before joining the Big12. IIRC it had very mixed results.

At least you're not having to do what the Chicago Bears did when Soldier Field was rebuilt, and play 160 miles away in Champaign at U of I.

ya, your right there would be some worse places then Arrowhead for sure. The thing about it though was like they were saying , when your talking about a venue that holds 80,000 people your going to lose some of that home field advantage for sure. - -I know in past years that wouldn't of mattered because we were so bad that we were lucky to get 30- -25000 fans to a game so home field wasn't worth a squat then anyways. Now though we have been selling out so w would be losing that advantage. They gave another example saying take like we have a home game against Iowa State this coming year, we play that game in Arrowhead and you know Iowa State going to travel well for the game to Arrowhead, look how they try and take over in the Big 12 Basketball tourney..

I understand what your saying though it's just one of those things you have to deal with in one of these types of things. -Still haven't decided how many games will be played there, have hear from all our games to 4 of the games.- -Another thing that was brought up was the revenue that will be lost with the downtown Business if we play at Arrowhead. Bottom line though where eve it goes is ok, cause this is something that has been needed , and we got a Coach that reno was one of his prioties when he agree to his New Contract awhile back.

There is talk about another New contract in the works for Coach L. I'm telling you this guy just ooozes class and KU needs to give him whatever he needs to keep this staff together. Think quite possible we just got two 4 *s signed this year that think no doubt ends up in the NFL - Deshawn Warne from Arizona and then a kid name Brinkley I believe, just super excited program finally getting respectable, no ore ridiculous thumpings when we play. At least we can be competitive in every game.

Great Pics my friend, looks even worse now -- like I was saying West side gone except the press box & the bowl is totally gone. lol that does in a way does look like the Roman Colisseum

LOL , great pic and sad to say it was almost that bad for over a decade, but don't think you will find that like that anymore. Kind rowdy actually.

Found it interesting in Leipold's 1st year after we played Oklahoma close , Coach said to his wife or maybe another member of the staff he said - - -Do you hear that? - listen to that, our fans are actually clapping and cheering for us losing the game and keeping it close, and said something to the effect the days are gone - Love that approach

Wow. I remember that stadium from way back in the day. Let's see, I did a prospect camp there as an 8th grader back in 1992... maybe? I loved it. Of course I was a beast of an offensive lineman back then. Sadly the growth stopped and that was the end of D1 dreams.

So let the rebuild begin. Phase ONE demolition complete. Can't believe these guys are working on days like today, really, really cold , Snow on the ground. Tear down for Phase one is done. Press boxes gone - - Bowl ls gone , total West side of stadium - - is gone.

Now going full gear of cleaning up. Got like 7-8 excavators , and like 9 Semi Trailer trucks to haul off the debris , getting after it. --- LET THE REBUILD BEGIN

The good news about Vanderbilt's construction is less opposing fans can attend games. Vanderbilt's fans can fit comfortably at Pearl Cohn's high school football's field.
