900-1000 across what levels? What country? Just the USA, or worldwide?
Since this is a college sports forum, my mind goes to college athletics. For example, over 520,000 athletes across all divisions in the NCAA competed in the 2021-2022 year
The estimated total number of trans athletes that I can find in the NCAA is currently anywhere from 40-100, which means trans athletes competing in the NCAA is a tiny, incredibly small percentage. I
I cannot find data on the # of trans athletes competing in 2021-2022, but let us say there were 100 trans athletes competing in 2021-2022. That is 0.00019230 of all athletes, or 0.019230%. The likelihood is that there was not even half of that amount.
