Honestly at least 4 of the last 7 years you could have made a legitimate case for the 4 playoff entries to be SEC. Last year was an exception. But with 12 teams and the conference realignment we're going to see fewer 12 or 11 win teams.
I love that the playoffs are expanding. 4 became a popularity contest. If 5 or 6 of the best teams are in 1 conference I'd prefer they get in instead of making a fluffy goodwill gesture like Cincinnati was.

The problem with the Big 12 is that it has regularly embarrassed itself in regular season out of conference games in a way that the SEC and B1G have not, and that combined with recruiting, conference realignment, and frequently winning big games places those conferences in a position to capitalize.

What's embarrassing are the SEC schedules (and perhaps the B10 too, but I haven't examined them much the past few years).

The average SEC schedule is loaded with 4 non conference pansies and if they do play someone with a pulse, its almost always near their fanbase if not at home.

i.e. 2023 Alabama played Middle Tennessee, USF and Tennessee Chattanooga.

The fourth OOC game was againts the longhorns @ home and they lost..

BTW, they beat USF 17-3 and USF was one of the worst teams in college football last year.

Is that really more embarrassing than losing to Air Force or Texas State? I'm just saying until we can blank Texas Tech we can't complain about Middle Tennessee being too soft for Bama. There's 8 fluff games on our schedule this season.

Only solution is to show up at the playoff and beat some people.

I understand the committee/voters historically justifying SEC bias by more heavily weighting conference SOS which makes up for non-con patsies. For instance, Mississippi State this year plays @Texas, @Georgia, @Tennessee and @Ole Miss this year. That's an objective meat grinder and significantly tougher than anything any Big 12 team will endure. And that's just a random cross-section of the league. They will forgive playing Alabama Teachers Vocational College in Week 11 as a tradeoff.

What I don't understand, at all, is the Big 10 bias. That conference mostly blows. The Big 10 West has been an objective dumpster for years. Overall, Purdue, Maryland, Rutgers, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Iowa, Michigan State, Indiana, Illinois, even Wisconsin lately have all been aggressively mediocre at best. That's like 3/4's of the entire conference.

You take any of those programs and none would be anywhere near front-running in the Big 12. And that's your bias? Garbage.

Just because we get tossed around by Texas Tech doesn't make them a good team.

When the big 12 even back doored a team into the MNC they go and lose by almost 70. Signaled the official end of it ever really mattering again on a national level for relevance. Will take 25 years to get over that as a conference and need someone to step up
