Doesn't that have more to do with Tennessee being in the league already? It's funny though.

I'm with you on Tennessee, but they have looked like a different team ever since Oklahoma… Like they're playing not to lose. They have a really good quarterback from Nashville coming next year, and I hope he gets a shot to compete against Nico if Nico doesn't start pulling it together.
They finally started playing real defenses, and Nico started looking like a freshman.

Tennessee, Ole Miss and Missouri all had their "unstoppable" offenses exposed once their schedules toughened.

NC State is not exactly chopped liver. They were actually ranked at the time TN beat them 51-10. I didn't expect TN To score at the same rate as their early-season schedule, but they seem a little more content to slow things down and rely on their defense since the SEC slate started.

That's Texas' excuse. They will soon find out that they are no longer UT. No one in the Southeast refers to Texas as UT. Go into any state and say UT and they assume Tennessee. The real UT was founded in 1794.

Mizzou lost a couple guys. Burden and Cook are back but no Schrader. I've never thought Dart was elite. He's a perfectly fine QB who can beat teams he should beat but will need help against the top competition.

Nico has looked like a freshman with the increase in competition but the play calling as ChuckRoast mentioned has been pretty conservative. At some point they need to let Nico try and rip it more and find a rhythm which is key for a veer and shoot offense. It might not go well the first time but it might be required to keep winning. The defense is great but you can't ask your defense to bail you out every game.

NC State is chopped liver this season. They're 3-4 with a loss to Wake Forest and will be lucky to make a bowl game.

NC State has two close losses to conference foes and 2 blowout losses to UT and Clemson, so they are chopped liver. But Rhule beating our Wake Forest's and NC States (they are not perennially bad teams and are on par with many of our Big 12 programs) and qualifying for a conference championship game is worthy of making championship culture proclamations.

With regard to the 2019 team, you specifically said: "The Big 12 was 7-7 against the Power 5 that year, and that was with a 1-5 record against the SEC. If the Big 12 wasn't a power conference that year, what does that say about the three P5 leagues it went 6-2 against?"

But now it's ok to parse wins against other P5 schools?

NC State is not a good football team this year. Only those who convinced themselves otherwise were surprised when Tennessee's offensive success against them proved to be fool's gold.

The last three games are far more representative of Tennessee's true offensive abilities than what they did against mostly dregs before conference play.

NC State isn't good this year. The ranking system is meaningless and without merit, so whatever 'rank' they were given is irrelevant.

I haven't researched but I'd imagine the SEC has the most current players in the NFL.

A lot of talent gets drafted but fizzle. I know Alabama and LSU have a boat load of active players in the NFL.

Other than OU and UT the Big 12 is a no show in number of top 25 schools.

Big12 has some dudes. Iowa St has Purdy, Montgomery, Lazard, Kolar. Baylor has Pitre, Bernard, Sims, had Howard, 2 or 3 long snappers. OU technically counts with Hurts, Lamb, etc. None of our teams have 10+ dudes killing it but take out Ohio St and Michigan and I think we'd average more than the Big10

Alabama and Georgia combined probably have the same amount as 2/3s of the total big 12 players in the NFL

Rhule's team gets credit because it won games. A **** ton of them actually. As many as we'd ever won in our history at the time.

Tennessee will get credit if they win double-digit games, too. Beating the hell out of a bad team doesn't warrant credit in and of itself. And regardless of what you want to say, Wake Forest and NC State are bad teams this year.

It's insane actually.

And vigorously defending a ****ty NC State team that, like us, has yet to win P5 game this season to do so is even crazier.

Your position is based on multiple fallacies. The first, that rankings have merit - they don't. The second fallacy is using the transitive property in sports and not only that but you are trying to do it across conferences and teams that span 5 years apart.. The third, is giving merit to a MAC team.

The biggest flaw is mentioning P4 losses as a feather in the cap without making the more meaningful point that NC State has yet to beat a single P4 opponent.

In fact, their only wins are over a 3-3 FCS team in Western Carolina, a 2-4 CUSA team in Louisiana Tech and a MAC team that lost to Buffalo the week before in Northern Illinois. And none of those wins were particularly impressive in terms of game control.

Tennessee's a good, solid team that will likely have a solid resume at the end of the year. But trying to use that NC State win as evidence this late in the season, with what we now know about that team, is ludicrous. Their "ranked wins" over NC State and Oklahoma have lost a ton of their punch.

NC State is 3-4 with 4 P5 losses. They were outclassed by Clemson and TN and blew out a lower-level team. They also beat N Illinois (who was formerly ranked after beating Notre Dame) and had a 1 score loss to 5-1 Syracuse. I'm not arguing they are a good team, but they are on par with many of the teams in the Big 12 and are not chopped liver. It's ironic that some want to give Rhule's 2019 team undue credit for narrowly beating a slate of teams similar or worse to this year's NC State team

It wasn't the fact that UT won, it was the manner in which they dominated them. I acknowledge that NC State is not a good team this year . . . I've said so all along. However, NC State is also not a creampuff non-com game (that's been the point I have consistently made). Dismantling them 51-10 in Charlotte is more impressive than dismantling the likes of S Dakota State and Lindenwood. NC State is not good, but they are still on par with most of our B12 competition. I don't see many of our conference brethren beating each other 51-10 regardless of whether one team is having a down year or not. NC State was a ranked team that played Kansas State in a bowl game last year.

I will not take this slander against the real UT with my Bears struggling this year. GBO! Our Volunteers are why Texas is a state so yes we are the real UT besides the fact the university was founded before Texas was even a country or state much less had a university.

NC State has a solid program. But I don't care what they did in previous years. I judge teams solely on their bodies of work in a given season. And this year, they'd finish near the bottom of the Big 12 standings -- as they will in an equally mediocre ACC.

I don't think teams should use wins over us or Kansas to bolster their resumes either. I judge teams by what they do against the good teams on their schedules, not the bad ones. Close wins over solid bowl teams carry more weight with me than blowout wins over bad ones.

The mighty Missouri Tigers are locked in a 3-3 barn-burner with 2-4 Auburn at halftime.

It's such a privilege to get to watch that SEC juggernaut play every week.

I think this year the B1G may be the better conference top to bottom. Not sure.

Maybe. Texas might still be the best team in the country.

They were pretty bad vs Georgia first half but playing much better in second.

Unbelievable. Refs overturn a penalty call to benefit Texas. Even the Texas radio announcers say they have never heard of such a thing.

It was the right thing to do but maybe for the wrong reason.

I did not know a PI could be overturned.

I would think any penalty that is reviewed has the potential to be overturned but I'm no expert on the rules.

Once a penalty is accepted I believe it cannot be reversed.
I think it was a mistake by the chief official. It also set s precedent that can be harmful.

Throw enough trash on the field and you can get it overturned
