Texas State wide receiver Kole Wilson has committed to Baylor following his official visit on Tuesday. He becomes the second wide receiver to commit to the Bears during the portal period, joining Alabama’s Kobe Prentice.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound prospect posted 630 yards and four touchdowns this season.

Across three seasons, he has totaled 1,658 yards and 13 touchdowns after playing one season at Incarnate Word and two at Texas State. He has played 1,786 snaps in his career.

Wilson is also elite in the kick return game as he has posted 33 kick returns for 874 yards and a touchdown during his career.

Baylor is set to lose four of its top five receivers from this past year's team — Ashtyn Hawkins (5Sr.), Hal Presley (Sr.), Monaray Baldwin (Sr.), Ketron Jackson (Sr.) — making this position one of the most important for the staff during transfer portal season.

He will have one season of eligibility remaining.

Good route running with shiftiness and size won't matter. He won't be the guy you toss it up to in double coverage, he'll be the guy you give crossing routes to and if the routes are crisp will be solid chain movers.

Hopefully that's true, but I also hope any more portal WRs we take are of the more physical 6'2" or taller possession receiver types (i.e. more like Cameron) that you can potentially toss it up to and trust them to make a play even when they aren't wide open. IMO we are at least at our quota of tiny WRs.

That wasn't exactly a forte of Monaray's.

I get that these kids can have good speed, good hands, and good route running... But that doesn't mean they aren't undersized

We need guys who can block, make contested catches, etc too

Gotta take what we can get with wide receivers. The Josh Gordon/Denzel Mims prototypical receivers are few and far between in the portal, and they command money that we really don't have considering all the other positions of need we have on defense

Kole gonna be a diamond someday.
