I didn't read the report. I take he never asked for the exact location of Waco's Cheesecake Factory then.

Grayson needs to do his homework. Odell James was the #1 recruit in the state of Texas in the mid 90's. The recruiting systems were different, but he still would have been ranked ahead of Stidham and White.

Are you able to prove that? What I like about the 247 composite rating is that it is an aggregate of three different recruiting sites, so it's a more robust metric than any single ranking

Odell James was a massive recruit. He didn't pan out, but winning that battle over Nebraska was absolutely huge at the time.

Seems like a high potential for a lot of egg on face with this one. Site made it sound like he was ready to commit on his visit and this was almost a sure thing. Two days later, no commitment. What happened?

Well… if he has no scheduled visits anywhere else… what does that tend to indicate?

What's rthe status of walker white? Are we still expecting a committment?

Are we looking at other QBs? A freshman or redshirt freshman QB at Wisconsin entered the portal today.

247 put in a crystal ball for Baylor before this site wrote a word about Walker. If he commits elsewhere, a lot of people will have gotten it wrong.

On3 put in some sort of prediction. Haven't seen anything from 247.

It was only 1 analyst at On3 who put the crystal ball on and he put it on at the lowest confidence percentage (60%) that they will typically put in a crystal ball. If he doesn't sign here it won't fool many people at all. He didn't commit because he's trying to schedule trips to Arkansas and reportedly two other schools.

Again are we talking to other QBs?

Is there a ripple effect if we are flirting with a key transfer prospect?

Transfers are seen as probable starters and at worst as heir-apparents to be QB1 (or at some other position).

High school recruits see that this diminishes their prospects, and may consider de-comitting.

If the transfer falls through, might we end up losing both the transfer and the high-schooler?

Whoever had the loose lips to make things public might have done a great disservice.

I hope this is not what happens.

Probably depends on the experience level of the player. Sure if Ewers enters the portal, part of his deal is going be being the starting or franchise QB for example at his new school hypothetically. This QB is a year older and not much more experience than any high school commit or any freshman we have in the QB room.

Griffin seems like a good player but did not have any other P5 offers. Doesn't mean that he wouldn't get any of course if he left

As for White, it's also possible that he'll just go back to Auburn. I don't necessarily see his path to being a starter there as being significantly more or less difficult than anywhere else. There are very few schools that are just going to hand you the starting job without bringing in somebody to compete with you
