Please don't let it be Ashtyn after all that stress over getting him eligible

What are yall thinking in terms of attendance? Stunned the game isnt sold out still tbh.

Someone posted on our boards yesterday that someone at Baylor told them they expect the whole horseshoe to be AU people, Didnt know how true that was but I do know we are bring a big crowd. Dallas is our 2nd biggest Alumni base (at least it was last time I heard, ATL is 1st) so I expect a ton of them coming.

It will sell out by game time. I imagine the endzone to be full of auburn fans. Yall will probably bring at least 5k fans. The main problem with it being Fri night is that is Texas HS football night so anyone with hs kids has to be at a game. We dont have a million fans like the aggys so we need all the Baylor fans to show up.

There will be a thousand Auburn fans per national championship: 2K will actually be there, but they will claim 9K.

Not really. I'm pretty sure Auburn sold out their allotment which is 4500, remaining AU fans then bought what they could find (the past month thousands were available). Baylor folks are slow to buy, Auburn folks likely aren't. I expect a lot of the 3rd deck to have a decidedly orange tint to it. 7K plus is not out of the question.

Back again for year 2!
Hate that the game isn't in Auburn, though. Really enjoyed Waco last year.
When I made this post last year, I will say I had full Orange and Blue glasses on and never thought that Hugh wouldn't coach this game in 26… but woof.

I would say our fanbase is behind Golesh, and he really nails the PR game. We all know PR wins 0 games, though, so it will be interesting to see what we look like this year.

Pretty excited to see Byrum Brown this year. Early reports out of fall camp are that he is the real deal.
Worried about our OL and WRs, WRs more so depth. We brought all of Byrum's top targets from USF with us, with Keshawn Singleton and Chaz Nimrod the big two. A name to look out for that you might not see in the preview magazine is true freshman WR DeShawn Spencer.

At RB we feel really good about a 1-2 punch of Cobb and Omar Mabson. Bryson Washington is RB4 right now. Staff has not been pleased with his weight but is hoping fall camp changes things.
Defense we return pretty much everyone and kept the DC (DJ Durkin) from last year. Defense was a bright spot last year, so excited for those guys.
Excited for this season and for Week 1 vs. you guys one more time!

Terrible decision Bryson made to leave Baylor, he'd still be RB1 for the Bears, looking to etch his name as one of the Top 3 RB's ever to wear the green & gold. A 1,000 yd season in 2026 would've put him #3 in career yards all-time.

Sad.

Washington RB4. Baylor's best last year, Auburn's top 2 possibly could be a tremendous problem for Baylor's defense. Optimism may be hard to conjure up.

That pretty much says it all. The guy who would have been our starter had he stuck around is #4 on the depth chart with you guys.

You all are a 7.5 point favorite. I don't see a scenario in which we cover.

Well, we for sure aren't an "institution of football". Not that we ever were, but at least when CAB was beating the likes of UT and OU and winning back to back B12 titles we weren't complete idiots as well.

Auburn and most other teams don't hate us. Auburn hates Alabama.

Meh implies Indifferent, unconcerned, apathetic. Auburn sees Baylor as... meh.

I wish everyone hated us. You have to be good (Ohio State, Alabama, etc.) to be hated, with the exception of Texas A&M... they are universally hated whether they are good or bad.

With respect to the Auburn game... I think Auburn easily covers unless Auburn (1) has not been able to grasp the new coaching staff's schemes and makes mental errors, (2) commits multiple turnovers and (3) has a bunch of penalties. If 1, 2 and 3 occur it might be close, but my crystal ball says Auburn easily covers.

In fairness, your last paragraph describes what I saw during my (admittedly limited) viewing of Auburn football last season. Auburn had a decent but not great team last season, but couldn't get out of their own way. Largely, they were hamstrung by outright clueless QB play. Cam Coleman's ridiculous catch reel would rescue the Tigers in critical moments, but those were too few.

Neither the QB nor Cam Coleman are there this season. The coaching staff was obviously replaced as well. The betting line factors in many things that are just uncertain.

However, if I'm highlighting anything, it's the fact that Byrum Brown brought along his top targets from USF. Even if the coaching staff takes the game off and just lets him sling it, he can simply turn the contest into playground ball real fast. Baylor's defense will have to be a completely surprising unit for me to imagine them doing anything about it.

First games are weird, but this is asking a lot.

We had nothing defensively last season. It was truly a pathetic unit with very little talent. And the metrics all supported pretty hilarious that people still call Mr Clean a guru

What's your score prediction. Last year you predicted that Auburn would dominate Baylor physically on both sides of ball, as I recall, and that's exactly what happened. We spent big on the DL exactly so they wouldn't get bullied again by Auburn (and much of big 12), so I think there's at least some chance Auburn might have to pass it more than 2 times to win this one, but I suspect they will still be able to put up plenty of points.

On offense, we backed up the truck (albeit a smaller Baylor sized truck) to get Lagway, but we don't have the WR depth we had last year. Our RB1 and RB2 are both coming off significant injuries. Our starting center was ruled ineligible. Spav has a great record of putting together good offenses, but we really focused on righting the ship at defense this year, so there could be a lot on DJ.

I predict that our offense struggles because our OL gets dominated and DJ makes some plays but also some mistakes, and Auburn pulls away as the game goes on and wears down our defense. Maybe something like Auburn 31-14. What do you think?
