Here's an annoying question that I have to ask: how is our current team marketable for any business? Our team sucks, and half our players are in the portal. Our fanbase is already small as it is. We have a lame duck head coach. The list goes on. Baylor is not a blue blood that can play like crap and still have national brands reaching out to players to do six figure deals like DJ Lagway's Jordan Brand deal at Florida. You need to show that you have a coach that has instilled a winning culture in his program, and we don't have that

Before anyone contributes any funds - these organizations need to open their books so we understand the "expenses" that are being subtracted from the donations...

That transition from not profit to for profit is gonna cause some pain.

Utah is just straight ripping the band aid fast with the PE spinout.

We are not an institution of football, so why do you think we would be producing football as a product?

I'd like to see an accurate list of all Big 12 teams with numbers of players going into the portal, for perspective.

I don't know how much this activity is from Baylor's less than ideal status or if it is mostly just the new normal. Seems like a lot of teams are having a bunch of players portaling. Most probably among those with coaching changes. And Baylor's situation is "special." But I'd like to see the overall picture.

Imagine the NIL opportunities in 2013-15.

And how many of those great players would have been poached by schools that have vastly more resources than Baylor. 2013-2015 might not have been so much fun had the current landscape been in place.

Enjoy what we had, but don't have your head buried in the sand that it would have necessarily been the same in today's world. Would our BMDs be in the mix, yes, but there are many other schools that have many more BMDs with more money than us.

Well, we had numerous notable BMDs then, and we largely don't now, so I think we were probably in better shape then.

Former Georgia defensive end Damon Wilson II has sued the school's athletic association, escalating one of the messiest player-school disputes of the NIL and transfer portal era.

In a 42-page complaint filed Tuesday morning in Boone County, Mo., Wilson's attorneys allege a civil conspiracy involving the Bulldogs and Georgia's collective to try to "penalize Wilson for his decision to transfer." The suit alleges that they interfered with his ability to enter the portal and lied about his NIL buyout. The former five-star recruit spent this season at Missouri.

It was gonna happen.

NCAA never learns. My mom had a saying, make decisions on the front side of issues, or someone else will make them for you, and you will not like the results!!!

Because the NCAA chose to ignore the unfairness of the players situation, now they have no authority to regulate anything.

The only positive thing I can say about Baylor's status regarding the transfer portal, at least we're not Iowa State or Colorado.

Yikes, man.

That is definitely true, but if UT wanted to snatch RG3, or Coleman, or any of the others that were recognized as top of the line players, we could never match what the blue bloods could offer. Had everything not happened, Briles going to UT was probably going to happen at some point as well. The playing field has just changed and money-wise we are not big dogs.

To be honest, I don't think any of us know what we have now. All I get is speculation from a bunch of internet posters that don't know any more than speculation and say whatever is necessary to support the line they are pushing from whichever side of the fence they may be on.

I don't know what we have. It might turn out decent for next year and then some. I have reservations, but it's gonna be what it's gonna be and I can't change it. Now I'm just hoping for good things to come.

But I am fairly certain that the state of college football will continue to decline for the foreseeable future, unless some massive enforceable decision that all are generally compliant to comes down from somewhere.

And I just don't know where that could possibly come from. We may be past the breaking point.

So in a way, it's almost better to not be in the best situation when it all falls apart, rather than losing something that was really clicking and being awesome.

We done been through all that at Baylor.

None of it gives a rat's ass about me. I have no power. I'm just watching.

I have no doubt they will have no problem finding really great replacements… but that seems like a lot of players to lose from one player group

They may just be trying to establish market value for Texas to match.

Of course, if they get offers below what Texas initially offered to them they may wind up with a lower contract than what Texas already offered. That door swings both ways.

High profile guys may not have issues but if you are 4th on the depth chart and don't have any college game tape yet you might find yourself without a chair when the music stops.

I guess all schools even blue bloods will have to go through a roster shuffle every year to some extent.

Texas hired Floridas RB coach and is going after Jaden Baugh. This could be a signal that the deal is done but obviously won't be announced until the portal officially opens on Jan 2. How this doesn't scream tampering, I don't know…but I guess college sports are officially cooked. I mean we somehow got an NBA player to join the Baylor squad mid season. Seems like the NCAA is a rotting corpse at this point.

You cannot tell me this is apart of the plan

this whole defense sucks ass and has no dawgs because Dave can neither identify talent nor develop players
OR
Thomas an All-Big 12 caliber dawg and it would suck to lose him

Which way, Baylor fan...

He's okay. Bright spot on a terrible defense. Not irreplaceable and probably capped from a development POV with regard to what he would get from this staff. He needs to be around better players who play and win assignment football. Right now #11 is having to deliver individual feats of heroism every week to make up for the absolute suck that goes on around him.

Yes he wants to see guardrails(we all would) but I did not get the idea that he would not give until there are.
