Turds laid? Maybe. The 2015 implosion in the Cotton Bowl was no turd. It was explosive diarrhea!

The loss to a 7-4 San Jose State is about like an unranked West Virginia team blowing out a #4 ranked Baylor team in 2014 to the tune of 27-41.

Hey, Thee! Thanks for your service.

This is genuine appreciation for your time in the uniform of Baylor.

There's no need for others to trash you nor for you to trash them for still liking a former coach, no matter his imperfections.

And I'll add my praise for Coach Grant Teaff, a fine man as well as a fine coach.

I honestly didn't know Thee played for Briles. Cool. Defend your old Coach...

I did not play for Art. Art and I are only 3 years apart.

As a matter of fact Art showed me around the U of H in December of 1976 for a few hours on my official U of H recruiting trip. I was a senior in high school being recruited by the University of Houston. Art was a 2nd or 3rd year player at U of H back then.

Where is the Sul Ross scouting report? This could be a big W for the Greyhounds.

Who is gassing up the old yella dawg for the trip out to Alpine?

7 to 8 hour trip. You can stop in Eldorado or Iraan for a great raspa break.

Which robe clutcher is up for driving the yella dawg back to Waco and changing the oil? The upcoming drive to Monmouth, Oregon is going to be tough on both yella dawg and robe clutchers.

Better make sure the dawg has a heater and take some blankets.

Sucks their team is struggling but CAB needs another year to install his system and get his guys. I'm just happy he is back coaching and I hope they give him what he needs.

Victory #1 is on the horizon.

Get the yellow dawgs oiled up and gased up. It's a 12 hour drive from Waco to Silver City. In the yella dawg it's probably more like 14 hours!

Western New Mexico has given up 60 points per game on average. 84 points to Midwestern State.

That has to be it. If he doesn't win next year, shouldn't he be on the hot seat and questioned if he knows what he is doing? Did he forget how to win?

The question for numerous coaches that had success else where but can't seem to get it done at their present gig.

Hello @$$holes!

I had to do an edit and soften my response. I think basically all of you guys mean well. You just don't know anything about how college football programs are run and what the head coach must do to prevent campfires from turning into raging forest fires.

Once the insult bar is set, guys will gravitate to that level and deliver "insults" that fit in nicely with the original nasty post. I am guilty of occasionally reverting to insults I learned by hanging around Baylor students. I've managed to purge most of them but still have a few in my back pocket. They get played when another poster lowers the bar further into the filth.

Briles was a good football coach. But Briles was the kind of mercenary that just wanted to win games and leave everyone else on the hook for any damage. It doesn't work that way, even in the pros. It doesn't exactly make him a murderer, but this 'in house' answer isn't gonna work when you get paid millions.

The real story in how our program was run are in the volume of emails and texts from Regents to Ian.

But I'm guessing that's long since been deleted.

Alright boys, if you are going to make it to the Silver City game you need to all get on board that Yella Dawg. I'm advising you boys take the northern route to Silver City. Pecos is a better rest stop than Ft. Stockton

Remember, kickoff is 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time.

This is the perfect game to catch Win #1.

He does, but he also knows how puffed up people, teams, etc can go off a very high cliff there. I find it revealing that he admitted recently on these boards that the reason BU went undefeated in conference in 1980 was because, in his words, "the Southwest Conference was down that season." Reading that, I thought, "Yep. Another Baylor football tradition that must be maintained at all cost."

Have you been watching how the SEC and the Big 10 football programs operate for decades, and especially now with NIl? Their HC's win or they're gone. They at least defend their coaches and their Universities. The Baylor Regents did neither. They only defended themselves.

Been to San Jose. Allow me to recap that "Way to San Jose". It was close to a nightmare.

Fortunately that San Jose trip woke us up to go on and put together an UNDEFEATED SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP.

We had gone through Lubbock like poop through a goose. 11-3. Held them to -38 yards rushing & 102 total yards.

We then drove #20 Houston 24-12. Some fella I know got SWC Player of the Week after 13 tackles, a fumble recovery and blocked a field goal. Who was that guy?

Had a flat the next week versus SMU but still managed to get through Dallas unscathed 32-28.

Drove over to College Station & put 46 points on the Ags while only giving up 7. They scored on our second team.

Went through TCU in Ft. Worth 21-6. TCU had 16 yards rushing.

We were headed to Arkansas and unfortunately ended up in San Jose. 22-30. A blemish but still no conference losses.

After waking up we hopped on the Arkansas road and won 42-15. 116 yards rushing by the Hogs.

The road to Houston meant an unfortunate stop at Rice. Still though after a 16-6 victory the Cubs remained undefeated in conference play!

The road then took us through #20 UT. Baylor became the first private school since the 1949 Rice Owls to win the SWC Championship after we dog-drilled Texas. Texas had 9 first downs, 12 tackles behind the line of scrimmage for 50 yards in losses. The Horns had 35 yards rushing. 138 total yards. That same fella who got SWC Player of the Week versus Houston in Week #4 got Southwest Airlines Player of the game versus UT in Week #11.

I'm sure glad the road led through San Jose! What a wake-up call that turned out to be.

Since Baylor started playing football there have been only 4 Baylor teams that went undefeated in SWC or Big 12 play:

1915 Bears went 3-0 in SWC play

1922 Bears went 5-0 in SWC play

1924 Bears went 4-0-1 in SWC play

The 1980 Bears went 8-0 in SWC play

We yielded an average of 11.7 points per game. We yielded an average of only 9.6 points in conference play.

I did say that. However, it might have been the fact that there were 23 NFL players on that 1980 team. It might have been we were just so much better than all of the other teams. That next year in 1981 UT ended up #2 and SMU ended up #5. In 1982 SMU was #2, Arkansas #9 and UT #17. Not bad for the SWC.

After placing that year in the Baylor record books and watching Baylor and all of college football for the past 45 years it has dawned on me just how difficult it is to go completely unblemished over an 11, 12 or 13 games season.

I was just blessed to have changed my mind and dumped UT, signed with Baylor and left 4 years later a Peach Bowl Champion and a SWC Champion. Truly blessed!
