How many times have you seen Baylor claw themselves back only to give up the inevitable TD. That also repeated itself. Baylor defense was solid. I can't get mad about not taking points yesterday because those points were far from guaranteed with this year's kicking game.

Kickers have to earn confidence, and this kid hasn't come close.

Time will tell, but I saw more to be encouraged by than discouraged yesterday. That was the first time in a very long time that we looked like an equal with an SEC team that recruits SEC talent. We beat Vandy in the bowl game with Rhule, but they didn't really invest or recruit at that level at the time. And even the Ole Miss team we manhandled in 2021 wasn't just supremely talented.

I don't think Auburn's a great team, but from strictly a talent perspective, they'd likely be behind only Tech in the Big 12. So to go out there and hang physically and look like the better team for much of the game is a good sign.

All that said, wins and losses are all that matter from here on out. We either win games or we don't. And if we don't, we'll have a new coach next year. Like I said, win-win.

I will say I did question going for the win, instead of playing for OT in that situation.

IMO, you go for the win when you are an underdog that is overmatched and you are able to pull an upset. Your team is wasted, left everything on the field and you have them on their heels. Basically, if you let the opposing team get their breath, you are overmatched. I did not see that situation there.

I saw a D and a team that was going punch for punch, not intimidated and had energy. I would say BU was gaining momentum after a 14 play drive. D was rested and living in their backfield. In that situation, I kick and play for overtime because I believe we can stand toe-to-toe.

That was what I questioned...

Overall, can't be negative. But, that gave me pause.

As soon as we got the ball for that final drive, I said if we score we need to go for two. So I think it was the right call. And the play call was good. That scores probably seven or eight times out of 10, even with the throw Lagway made. Their dude just made a terrific play.

I think CDA and Baylor fan are thinking with last years D. This is not oast years D. DL goes 8 deep. They actually spent NIL on players that fit what they want to do, not best athlete.

Baylor has pretty much been an afterthought of CFB for most of our existence. The one time we did do what other's do to break out, it bit us at monumental levels. Also, even if it didn't that environment does not exist anymore.

Does anyone here really see BU ponying up the money that Tech, IU and the others are spending? BU is #41 right now and #8 in B12 NIL.

We may think that CDA is overpaid, but in that industry he is average. He is ranked 50th in CFB and 9th in the B12.

Point being, we may have an average roster but that is what we are paying for. Those that think Aranda is so highly paid need to look around.

For the money we are spending, in a capitalistic CFB, a 1-point loss on National TV on Labor Day weekend, 7-5 and a Bowl game is a pretty good return. Bowl win would be icing. That was a damn well played game yesterday and BU made some noise on National TV. Thumbs up.

Plus, I don't know how much of this to attribute to our defense looking better in that game than just about anything we've seen since 2021, but the RBs he's playing behind didn't look like anything special.

Dave Aranda says Kaden Sieracki moving to left tackle was to get him against the opposing teams best pass rusher because he has been performing so well.

Looks like he will stay there going forward.
