Athlon Sports: Mims a top 10 WR nationally | Rhule ranked against national coaches

In an article breaking down the top 25 quarterbacks who could have breakout seasons in 2018, Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer was one of four Big 12 quarterbacks listed by Steven Lassan of Athlon Sports.

Lassan placed Brewer at No. 10 on his list, just behind Texas sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger.

Limited time offer to try SicEm365 until August 27 for $1.00!

10. Charlie Brewer, Baylor
Brewer was one of the bright spots from coach Matt Rhule’s first year in Waco. After not playing in the first four games, Brewer received snaps as a backup over the next four contests and started the last four games of 2017. During that stint as the starter, Brewer threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns against TCU and also torched Texas Tech for 417 yards and three scores. The Austin native ended his first year on campus with 1,562 yards and 11 touchdown passes. Brewer isn’t going to put up huge rushing totals, but as evidenced by last year’s numbers (166 yards on 65 carries), he can move around in the pocket and make plays as needed. Baylor has a good group of playmakers in place, and if Brewer takes the next step in his development, this offense should lead the program to a bowl trip in Rhule’s second year at the helm.

As a true freshman in 2017, Brewer started Baylor's final four games of the season while throwing for 1,562 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions while playing in eight contests overall. Brewer took over the starting role following Anu Solomon (2) and Zach Smith (6) starting the first eight games of the season.

Notable quarterbacks to make the list:

17. Shawn Robinson, TCU

10. Charlie Brewer, Baylor

9. Sam Ehlinger, Texas

3. Kyler Murray, Oklahoma

1. Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama

Brewer is infinitely better than the Ehlinger. Ehlinger's not even as good as Beuchele, who doesn't appear to be on the list. Murray will be the most overrated player in the Big 12 once the year concludes. If Charlie had even a halfway decent line, he'd have a shot at Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. Unfortunately, his line is still inadequate so it won't happen this year.

Hey Don, when you going to respond to my PM? You guaranteed we were going to lose to Kansas and/or ACU this season and I'm eager to take you up on it. You name the amount.

Please respond. K, thx.
