A show cause wouldn't "prevent" anything. It's not a ban. It could potentially mean that penalties would follow him, if any. It would mean the new school would have to institute certain monitoring measures and compliance protocols that include periodic reporting. But, it does not prevent anyone from making the hire. Most schools wouldn't hire a coach under a show cause order because of the extension of sanctions.PartyBear said:boognish_bear said:Aberzombie1892 said:
Considering the pending results of the NCAA investigation where its notice cited a "Lack of Institutional Control" back in October 2018, it would be interesting if USM actually hired him.
Technically, it could make sense to hire him if his contract allowed for USM to terminate him if the results of the NCAA investigation found any fault with him, but, at the same time, it may not be worth the negative press if there is a serious possibility that he would not make it through the final results of the investigation unscathed.
I'm no expert on this....would the show cause just prevent him from being HC....and not keep him from being an assistant?
It would keep him from being an assistant as well, I believe.

All this backlash begs the question...
Which former Baylor coach would be more accepted on another college campus...
Dave Bliss or Art Briles?
A lot of weird coincidences going on right now...PartyBear said:
It's weird he may get hired with a show cause over his head. Seems like they know something. Livingston's comments were kind of weird and random as well explaining why top people involved weren't fired and trying say why that was good. Kind of like trying to explain things before having to.
The lawyers know. I can tell you that.Eball said:A lot of weird coincidences going on right now...PartyBear said:

1. Why would IAN stick his neck out and say he expects CAB to be exonerated b NCAA...who does that right before the actual ruling...
2. CAB gets an interview now before the ruling...why now? whether he gets the job or not why would you consider him with the NCAA hanging out there?
3. Livingstone and her comments...I get that she had to speak up in regard to the recent report of the dorm rapes but to throw in the stuff about this not really being an athletics problem but a campus problem...once again why now?
I just am puzzled by the timing of all this...should I remove my tin foil cap or does someone know something they are not saying?

This is what I wonder if everyone has unofficial word including the NCAA clearing house hence so does Southern Miss. I just think it odd Briles might suddenly get hired with a potential show cause and Baylor is trying to explain why top level people involved in the scandal are still at Baylor and why that is good. Like trying to explain away that being sanctioned for them is better than losing them.

I really hope they hire him, so all you Briles cucks can leave here and go to the Southern Miss message boards.
This has to be one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen. Possibly USM is aware of what the NCAA investigation did not find and feel more comfortable with an interview of him.PrideBU said:
The people who defend Art, still, on here probably sat around the campfire with Clayton Williams and laughed when he said women should just enjoy an imminent rape...
That being said, if Briles launders his name by getting hired, will he finally get that statue next to RG3?

Hyperbole is an internet staple, bud! And if you don't like it, I suggest something stupid like "talking to your family" or "doing something nice for someone." Not me. I'm digging in!Forest Bueller said:This has to be one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen. What does Clayton Williams and his male chauvinist pig self have to do with Briles? Nothing.
ok, that's just a tad funny(and sad). And this is why Briles should learn to 'manage' the media, rather than let his former assistant talk with them. ***** is trying to write an anti-Baylor piece, not a pro-Briles piece.boognish_bear said:
This partly explains why he is currently a head football coach in Italy, and hoping to be an offensive coordinator in Conference USA.

CIZZLark, I'm thinking anger management. Reruns of Mr. Rogers or Daniel Tiger would be a good start.CizzLark said:

Perhaps, we forget the NCAA is made up of schools, not coaches.

The NCAA can't hand down a punishment based on who's governing Baylor. They are allowed to look for infractions and let that committee do its job. The purview of the NCAA is quite miniscule.PartyBear said:
It sounds like this is going to happen if coaches of other sports there are endorsing it. Which begs the question why when there is a show cause hanging over his head, unless they have the unofficial word he is cleared and he will not be sanctioned.
I will be highly pissed if the NCAA declared Briles clean but sanctions the university because it did not clean out the high level administrators who actually were involved in wrong doing. It is going to be at revolution levels I think at that point. If the BOR and current administration thought May of 2016 through now has been rough, they havent seen anything yet if that is the ultimate outcome of all of this.
