Dennis Wyles? Did you cry out to God, Pastor? Or at least run out to the press and tell people that you did? I've seen how you behave on the other board. Quite a representative of the cloth.

You nailed it. Elevating the importance of perception over reality caused the problem in the first place and dictated their roadmap out of the mess.RightRevBear said:
They will not do this though because they care more about perception than what is right. That is the root of the whole scandal anyway. They wanted to ignore that Baylor had a problem just like every other university

There's no court case here. There is no burden of proof (i.e. guilty until proven innocent or innocent until proven guilty). There's just rhetoric and argument. Don't get all Perry Mason here.Robert Wilson said:George Truett said:This is an old unsubstantiated charge.brazosplaya said:

He is interested, as are many others, because there has never been a bigger complete sh*t show than that of the Baylor BOR in the history of college football.
With regards to the regents handling of the situation...Baylor was far worse than Penn State.
Thee is deflecting again.
I didn't bring up the "unsubstantiated charge" and "no proof" phrasing, but yeah even in the court of public opinion I would say the people setting up the organization's scapegoats have the burden of proof, in a colloquial sense if that makes you feel better.OsoCoreyell said:There's no court case here. Be a big boy and take your medicine.
If the Penn State regents even got involved I don't know. I do know the damage done to a program's reputation was far worse in Happy Valley than Jerusalem on the Brazos.
1,603 days and still sniveling?
Add to that the facts that (i) their story is not very satisfying and (ii) there are multiple statements (including from regents under oath) that Art never covered up or failed to follow university policy regarding sexual assault or physical assault, along with him being fired without cause. The whole thing will just never provide any real closure.CNC said:
I think why this is still being discussed/argued is that, to date, we've only heard one side of the story. Baylor bought Art's silence.
We've only heard Baylor's side via lawyers and a PR firm - two industries where you paint your client in the best light possible.
Yet, you have all these self-proclaimed "experts" who claim to know everything about it.
Yes, but the BOR chair would not allow the chair of the athletics committee to attend.CNC said:

You have flipped the burden of proof, as if it was on the coaches and players. Nice try.
If your alleging racism, you have to prove it.
Besides, you and others STILL don't understand why Briles was fired. The main reason why he was fired was his mishandling of Title IX complaints. This has NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE.
It doesn't matter than only one player was convicted.
It doesn't matter that many of the charges may have been false.
These are red herrings.
What matters is that complaints weren't properly handled. If you go back and read the PH report, that's what you find.
What matters is that the university as a whole didn't handle these complaints properly.
If we hadn't fired Briles, we would be enjoying an NCAA death penalty right now.
So Murff swears under oath that to his knowledge Briles never broke any rules or university procedures when it came to handling and reporting assault or sexual assault allegations. Yet you claim he was fired for mishandling Title IX complaints. What does that tell you? Can you even figure it out?Quote:
From the Article:
Cannon asked [Former Baylor BOR Chair Ron] Murff if Briles ever broke any rules or violated a university procedure when it came to his handling and reporting of assault allegations.
"No sir, not that I'm aware of," Murff said.
Cannon asked if Briles had concealed any information regarding sexual or domestic assaults by his players.
"No sir, not that I'm aware of," Murff said.
